About the Job

This Veterinary Assistant serves as an extension of our Cardiologists and Technicians, supporting patient and client care as part of the team. The role includes client communication of diagnostic results and procedures as directed by the Cardiologist, diagnostic and procedural coordination, and assistance in short- and long-term patient management. Ideal candidates have a basic understanding of common cardiac diseases and a strong motivation to learn. Diagnostic procedures assisted include echocardiography, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, Holter monitor placement, and thoracic radiographs, with opportunities to train in interventional procedures such as balloon valvuloplasty, PDA occlusion, and pacemaker placement.

How you'll make a difference

• Support a doctor with scheduled appointments and client needs
• Maintain basic medical record documentation
• Communicate with clients in person, by phone, and by email
• Perform basic animal restraint and patient care
• Assist with and take radiographs
• Prep patients for echocardiogram and other cardiac diagnostics
• Admit and discharge patients
• Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment
• Maintain inventory of cardiology-specific supplies

What you will bring

• Experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician, or 2+ years as a veterinary assistant, or current enrollment in a veterinary program
• Experience with anesthesia and cardiac diagnostics preferred, not required
• A commitment to compassionate, high-quality nursing care
• A positive, collaborative attitude and strong relationship-building skills
• Excellent communication, organization, and client service skills
• Honesty, integrity, and a desire to learn and have fun!

Schedules

• Tuesday through Friday, 8:00am - 6:30pm
• Wednesday through Saturday, 8:00am - 6:30pm

Salary: $23.00 - $25.00/hr, depends on experience
