As a System Performance Engineer 3, you will investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex network and data performance issues to ensure optimal, reliable service. By leveraging cutting-edge 5G optimization techniques and advanced AI tools, your work will directly boost network efficiency, elevate customer satisfaction, and keep Verizon ahead of the competition.\nEvaluating end-to-end service performance trends and isolating root causes of impacted services.\nPerforming comprehensive LTE, 5G, VoLTE, and VoNR testing with deep-dive analysis of relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).\nOptimizing LTE, 5G NR, and RAN networks using traditional methodologies alongside innovative, AI-driven automation tools.\nInvestigating and resolving escalated customer service and coverage complaints.\nOptimizing embedded networks to support the seamless integration of new macro sites, small cells, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), and In-Building Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).\nUtilizing predictive AI models and analytics to forecast network congestion, optimize parameter configurations, and automate troubleshooting workflows.\nWhat we’re looking for...\nYou have a strong customer service orientation. You like to take ownership of an issue and resolve it successfully. You are able to understand and evaluate a complex problem and present solutions. You work well independently as well as effectively with diverse business teams and vendors to implement solutions.\nYou’ll need to have:\nBachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.\nFour or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.\nHands-on experience with 5G NR and LTE network performance optimization.\nA valid driver’s license.\nWillingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.\nWillingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as operational needs dictate.\nEven better if you have one or more of the following:\nA degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.\nDeep knowledge of 5G NR, LTE, VoLTE, VoNR, and RAN architecture and protocols.\nProficiency with AI and machine learning tools for network analytics, automated root-cause analysis, and predictive maintenance (e.g., Claude, custom Python scripts, or AI-based network orchestration tools).\nStrong understanding of IP, transport protocols, and backhaul performance.\nExperience with network optimization, data analysis, and SP tools such as TrueCall, Atoll, Dmat, or Trace analysis tools.\nExperience with Samsung RAN systems, including USM (Unified Element Manager) and 3GPP standards.\nProven capability to differentiate, isolate, and diagnose RAN versus CORE network issues.\nExpertise in inter-modulation, distortion, RF interference detection, and mitigation techniques.\nDemonstrated strong analytical problem-solving skills and clear technical communication capabilities.\nIf Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.\nWhere you’ll be working\nIn this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager.
