VCS integrates cybersecurity governance, policies, technologies and operations across Verizon, and works to incorporate security into the design of technology systems and services.\nThe Script Developer & AI Expert is part of the Verizon Engineering & Technology team driving innovation, automation, and AI adoption across enterprise platforms. Serving as a core technical contributor, you will be responsible for building advanced automation scripts and executing scalable software engineering practices.\nAdvanced Scripting & Automation: Designing, implementing, and maintaining complex automation scripts and toolsets using Python, Bash, Node.js, or Java.\nPrompt Engineering: Constructing, testing, and optimizing advanced prompt structures and chains (LangChain, LlamaIndex) to drive high-accuracy AI responses and tasks.\nScalable Software Engineering: Building scalable microservices, clean APIs, and maintainable software architectures adhering to enterprise design patterns.\nCI/CD & DevOps Integration: Embedding automated AI testing and scripting tools directly into CI/CD deployment pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).\nProcess Automation: Identifying manual, operational bottlenecks and develop end-to-end intelligent automation solutions to streamline business processes.\nData Pipeline & Model Evaluation: Preparing, cleaning, and managing datasets for model fine-tuning, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures, and output validation.\nCollaboration & Best Practices: Partnering with software engineers, data scientists, and security teams to promote modern AI engineering standards and responsible AI practices.\nCode Reviews & Optimization: Conducting peer code reviews for custom scripts and prompt routines to ensure code quality, efficiency, and scalability.\nMonitoring & Performance: Establishing monitoring dashboards for AI model latency, token usage, automation execution speed, and operational metrics.\nWhat we’re looking for...\nYou’ll need to have:\nBachelor’s degree or three or more years of work experience \nThree or more years of relevant work experience\nExtensive experience writing advanced automation scripts in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash, or PowerShell.\nHands-on experience integrating LLMs and generative AI APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Bedrock, Vertex AI) into production applications.\nDemonstrated knowledge of prompt engineering techniques, prompt chaining, and frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex.\nSolid background in scalable software engineering practices, REST API development, and object-oriented or functional programming.\nExperience with modern CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and Git workflows for automated deployment.\nStrong problem-solving ability and communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nUnderstanding of software design patterns, unit testing, and maintainable code architectures.\nEven better if you have one or more of the following:\nBachelor’s Degree in relevant field\nRelevant certifications such as AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty, Cloud Practitioner, or similar AI/cloud credentials.\nAbility to drive process improvements and identify gaps\nProactive in engaging with customers, client executives and other Verizon teams\nAbility to excel in a team, as an individual, in a fast-paced deadline driven organization\nExperience implementing RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures and vector databases (Pinecone, ChromaDB, FAISS).\nExposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized execution environments (Docker, Kubernetes).\nKnowledge of AI security, guardrails, and risk mitigation techniques for automated agent workflows.\nIf Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.\nWhere you’ll be working\nIn this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.Scheduled Weekly Hours\n40Equal Employment Opportunity\nVerizon is an equal opportunity employer.
