As a RAN Performance engineer, you will provide technical expertise on a critical role involving network transformation, network service issues, network optimization, and maintenance. You will be responsible for providing support to keep things running smoothly and change the way that our customers live, work, and play. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented RAN Performance Engineer / LTE and 5G RAN Performance Engineer to lead wireless network testing, field execution, parameter optimization, and node migration projects across multi-vendor LTE and 5G networks (mmWave, C-Band, DSS, and Clean NR). In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure seamless network quality and user experience.\nCustomers expect our networks to perform at a high level all the time. That’s also where you come in. Additionally, you will investigate, evaluate and resolve network and data performance issues to ensure and reliable service for our customers. The work you’ll be doing will directly impact customer satisfaction and help keep us ahead of the competition. You are able to thrive in the rapidly evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence AI platforms and leverage AI use wherever possible.\nPerforming optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network systems and applications to identify overall system availability and performance.\nEvaluating network coverage to find gaps, making recommendations to improve coverage, and helping to implement those recommendations.\nGenerating, driving, and updating problem-tracking tickets via multiple systems and continuously improving business practices.\nIndoor RF Coverage Assessments: Collecting scanner data, analyzing RSRP, SINR, and PCI pollution, and identifying coverage gaps or interference.\nAnalyze pre/post- KPI performance, identifying and resolving critical RAN performance issues such as high call drop rates, low throughput, interference, and handoff failures. \nPerform deep-dive VoLTE/5G drive test analysis to enhance accessibility, retainability, MOS score, and minimize audio gaps. \nExecuting multi-band LTE and 5G optimization\nImplement RF shaping adjustments (mechanical/electrical tilt, azimuth changes) and parameter optimization to balance traffic and maximize capacity.\nEvaluating service performance trends and isolating root cause of impacted services.\nPerforming field drive/walk testing and post processing & analysis of logs of relevant technologies and Key Performance Indicators. Analyzing Layer 3 drive test data and coming up with optimization strategies. \nDiagnosing and resolving in-building system issues, collaborating with senior engineers to address customer problems.\nManaging customer eFEMTO deployments: providing technical support, and serving as a primary point of contact for customer-facing issues\nFocusing on continuous improvements, network and capacity optimization\nCoordinating technical investigations and testing with appropriate regional, area and HQ functions. \nProviding technical analysis, troubleshooting and training assistance to markets and regions as requested\nOptimizating 5G and LTE RAN networks using traditional and innovative means\nInvestigating and resolving customer complaints regarding services\nNew Cell Site integration support, including Small Cells and DAS (Indoor as well as Outdoor) systems\nWhat we’re looking for...\nBeing the first one to encounter and solve a problem is enjoyable to you. You are dependable and enjoy supporting the rotational needs of a technical environment.\nYou’ll need to have:\nBachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.\nThree or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience\nProven track record of team leadership, mentoring, and technical oversight.\nStrong problem-solving abilities in challenging field and environment scenarios.\nExcellent communication skills for cross-functional teamwork and technical presentations.\nWillingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.\nEven better if you have one or more of the following:\nA degree.\nExpertise of 4G and 5G\nFive or more years of hands-on experience in RF field testing, optimization, and wireless network deployment.\nStrong working knowledge of 3GPP standards across CDMA, EVDO, LTE, VoLTE, CBRS, and 5G (mmWave, C-Band, DSS, Clean NR).\nProven experience with OEM platforms including Samsung, Nokia macro and small cell hardware.\nProficiency with field drive test tools and post-processing software, such as TEMS, XCAL, XCAP, JDSU, WindCatcher, TrueCall, xLPT, IRIS, and Optis Analyzer.\nFamiliarity with RF planning and reporting tools like Atoll, MapInfo Professional and Google Earth Pro.\nExperience with propagation model tuning and validation to ensure accurate coverage alignment between prediction models and real-time drive/walk test or field data.\nIf Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.\nWhere you’ll be working\nIn this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager.
