Join the #VTeamLife.\nWhat you’ll be doing...\nAs an Outside Plant Engineer, you will manage a variety of internal and external partners and vendors to oversee OSP/ISP construction and maintenance of network extension projects to deliver fiber to new and existing customers. Your vital role will ensure that these multi-stakeholder, complex projects are delivered on time, to specifications, and within budget. You will be managing all engineering and construction activities of assigned projects associated with expanding and maintaining the OSP network infrastructure.\nLeading engineering efforts on multiple projects, driving productivity through use of vendor resources to meet deliverables.\nEngaging appropriate internal and external organizations and individuals with good written/verbal communications to accomplish required tasks with focus on quality and speed to market.\nCoordinating project activities with contractors, developers, municipalities and consultants.\nProposing solutions supported by sound engineering and operational productivity to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.\nAnalyzing implications of changes from the original schedule and taking required corrective actions to ensure the project stays on track.\nRecognizing vulnerabilities in network infrastructure and making intelligent decisions to ensure reliability within financial constraints.\nPreparing detailed cost analysis, project specifications, spend forecasts, route mapping, requisitions, and business justifications.\nProcessing reports, vendor invoices, material receipts, and other administrative duties.\nPerforming field meetings, inspection of construction in progress, and quality control of final product to ensure company requirements are met.\nCommunicating project status and progress to team members and customers.\nResponding immediately to network outages, coordinating necessary resources and activities for prompt and appropriate restoral.\nWhat we’re looking for...\nYou know a lot about outside plant engineering practices. You enjoy analyzing problems and having the autonomy to select and implement the right solutions. While you work well independently, you are also a great teammate and enjoy leading colleagues and coordinating efforts to ensure the best outcomes. No stranger to a fast-paced environment, you balance multiple assignments and opposing priorities while staying passionate about important deadlines. As a strong communicator, you can quickly build relationships with a diverse range of people and explain complex technical issues in a way that everyone can understand.\nYou’ll need to have:\nAssociate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.\nThree or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.\nWillingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.\nValid Driver's license.\nEven better if you have one or more of the following:\nBachelor’s degree in engineering or technical/science/mathematics fields.\nAbility to coordinate with vendors, utility providers, and local government agencies.\nExperience in CAD, 3GIS, ARCGIS, Google Earth or other mapping and drafting software.\nExperience in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Suite.\nExperience with Verizon applications such as ERP, nSAP, CoE/Canvas, 3GIS, Fiber-X, FIAT, and VPM.\nCorporate data and reporting platforms (Google Sheets, Excel, Tableau, Cheetah, or others).\nExperience with pole attachment and make-ready processes.\nExperience with AI tools to automate repetitive tasks (Gemini, NotebookLM, Claude).\nIf Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.\nWhere you’ll be working\nIn this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager.
