Join the #VTeamLife.\nWhat you’ll be doing…\nAs the Principal IT SOX Lead, you will lead the IT Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance lifecycle across Verizon IT applications. You will serve as the strategic bridge between IT engineering and executive leadership, maintaining high-stakes financial control integrity. Your core mission is to modernize compliance: replacing manual checklists with automated controls, auditing modern CI/CD pipelines, and serving as the primary audit liaison between internal and external auditors.\nSOX Program Ownership: Architect and execute the IT General Controls (ITGC) roadmap for financial reporting systems across planning, testing, evidence collection, and final certification.\nControl Automation: Design and implement automated control validation mechanisms to eliminate manual processes, reduce human error, and scale compliance efforts.\nAudit Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the lead liaison for the CIO, Internal Audit, Finance, and external auditors to streamline testing and align governance standards.\nTechnical Remediation: Partner directly with system owners to evaluate deficiencies and design technically viable, automated remediation plans.\nAgile Project Management: Direct cross-functional compliance initiatives, tracking deliverables, managing resources, and mitigating project timeline risks.\nExecutive Reporting: Translate complex audit findings and risk metrics into actionable briefings for executive leadership and steering committees.\nWhat we’re looking for…\nYou’ll need to Have:\n\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, or a related technical field or four or more years of work experience.\nSix years of progressive experience in IT compliance, IT internal/external audit, or technical systems engineering (military equivalent experience accepted).\nHands-on understanding of CI/CD pipelines, software development lifecycles (SDLC), database architecture, and cloud/infrastructure security.\nAdvanced knowledge of SOX audit frameworks, US GAAP/SOX requirements, and ITGC evaluation techniques.\nExecutive Storytelling: Skill in translating raw audit data and technical risks into clear, business-focused insights for C-suite leaders.\nEven better if you have one or more of the following:\n\nExperience driving complex solutions and analytics to provide ongoing and automated monitoring of key risks.\nBuilt relationships with program leads, developer, operations and CISO teams to understand how to develop plans that effectively manage security risks\nHave Agile software development and project management experience.\nAre Performance-oriented and self-directed with the ability to drive change and manage multiple projects\nHave experience across the Security and Compliance domain and the ability to apply this knowledge to drive cross-organizational initiatives\nAbility to design technically sound control improvements before submission to risk and audit partners.\nCertified Sarbanes-Oxley Expert (CSOE) or Certified Sarbanes-Oxley Professional (CSOP)\nCertified in Sarbanes-Oxley (CSOX) or Sarbanes-Oxley Trained Professional (SOTP)\nCertified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)\n\nIf Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.\nWhere you’ll be working\nIn this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager.
