The ideal associate will be a highly competent, results driven as well as a highly self-motivated individual.\nThis DBA role requires a service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in a prompt & efficient manor, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.\nResponsibilities:\nOwning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests.\nFulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs.\nReviewing service-related reports (e.g. database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure operational issues are identified and resolved promptly.\nResponding to database related alerts and escalations and working with database engineering to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems.\nEnhancing automation for database platform provision process\nEnhancing database monitoring & alerting platforms to ensure proactive alerting is always achieved.\nPlease note that this is a hybrid role requiring on-site presence in Alpharetta, GA for part of the week. Candidates who are unable to commute to this location will not be considered\nWhat we’re looking for...\nYou’ll need to have:\nBachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.\nFour or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.\nFour or more yars of relevant Database administration experience in a large data environment\nDeep understanding of PostgreSQL & MySQL database architecture and internal components with particular focus on :-Custom automated vacuuming\nRe-indexing\nStatistics\nPartition maintenance\nH/A implementations\nBackups, restores & Point-in-time recovery\nSecurity\nMonitoring & alerting\n\nAdvanced knowledge of Database Administration on the PostgreSQL (versions 17 & 18) platforms.\nAdvanced knowledge of Database Administration on the MySQL (8.4) platforms.\nAdvanced knowledge of Troubleshooting and resolving database problems in a high transaction OLTP environment.\nAdvanced knowledge of Database Performance Tuning & Optimization and Query cost management\nAdvance knowledge of writing, debugging and tuning of SQL / PLSQL code\nDeep knowledge of Partitioning on both MySQL & PostgreSQL\nDeep knowledge of vacuum processes and housekeeping of large databases (>2TB)\nSignificant operational and support experience with large data platforms\nExperience with scripting/automation (Powershell / Python / sparc preferred).\nEven better if you have:\nExperience with PostgreSQL & MySQL in an AWS environment, especially RDS Aurora implementations.\nExperience with ownership & management of ElasticSearch in AWS\nExperience with ownership & management of Redshift in AWS\nExperience in working as part of a geographically dispersed team\nExperience in any other database management systems (such as SQL Server)\nAbility to learn new technologies and scripting languages\nAbility to work in a fast paced, high volume, agile environment. \nAbility to approach problems with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm and innovation\nIf Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.\nWhere you’ll be working\nIn this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager.
