Join the #VTeamLife.\nWhat you'll be doing…\nThe ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in State and Local Tax compliance. While experience in gross receipts tax or in the telecommunications industry is a plus, it is not required - candidates with strong state and local tax backgrounds from any industry or public accounting setting are encouraged to apply.\nThis hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the supervisor.\nManage the accurate and timely filing of assigned State and Local Gross Receipts Tax (GRT) Returns, including keeping well documented and accurate analysis and support.\nProcess state and local tax payments in accordance with state deadlines, ensuring all internal policies and procedures are followed. \nAssist in gathering documentation and supporting responses for state and local tax inquiries and audits.\nHandle high volumes of revenue data utilizing Excel, Alteryx, generative AI solutions and data visualization software to streamline workflows.\nFoster clear communication and positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and external state and local tax authorities.\nIdentify process improvements and reduce redundant tasks by using automation tools.\nAssist with special projects including tax research initiatives and analyze the impact to the tax filings as required.\nPerform routine reconciliations for tax liability accounts and assist with the cash forecasting & budgeting for the team.\nEnsure internal controls are followed for all compliance functions.\nWhat we're looking for…\nYou’ll need to have:\nBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or four or more years of relevant work experience.\nFour or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.\nExperience in state and local tax compliance.\nFamiliarity with state tax laws, regulations, and multi-jurisdictional filings.\nStrong proficiency in Excel.\nEven better if you have one or more of the following:\nA Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting.\nA CPA license or active progress towards CPA certification.\nPublic accounting (Big 4 or large regional firm) experience.\nAbility to prioritize deliverables with competing timelines.\nAbility to build relationships and work cross functionally.\nStrong proficiency with automation and visualization tools (e.g., Alteryx, Qlik, Tableau, or Generative AI tax solutions). \nHighly motivated, technical & detail oriented. \nSuccess working both independently and in a team environment.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills. \nExperience in the Telecommunications industry is a plus.\nExperience with income tax or gross receipts tax regulations is a plus.\nIf Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.\nWhere you’ll be working\nIn this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager.
