We’re rapidly scaling this impact: today, more than 2 million Verkada devices are deployed across 170+ countries. \nAbout the Role\nAs a Senior Software Engineer on Verkada’s Growth Engineering team, you will build products and platforms that directly impact pipeline, revenue, and the effectiveness of our go-to-market teams.\nA growing focus of the team is applied AI: turning new model capabilities into reliable products that help Sales and Marketing teams access trusted information, make better decisions, and execute complex workflows. You will build across agent workflows, enterprise integrations, evaluation systems, and backend infrastructure, while also contributing to the broader systems that power lead management, attribution, and sales and marketing automation.\nThis role is ideal for an engineer excited to apply advances in AI to real business problems. Success requires strong product and engineering judgment, a willingness to work directly with users, and the ability to turn ambiguous opportunities into reliable production software.\nThis role reports to our Engineering Manager and is based on-site at our headquarters in San Mateo, California, five days a week.\nWhat You’ll Do\nBuild applied AI products and backend systems that directly impact pipeline, revenue, and the effectiveness of Verkada’s go-to-market teams.\nTurn emerging AI capabilities into reliable product experiences, including agent workflows, tools, integrations, evaluation systems, and guardrails.\nWork directly with Sales, Marketing, and Operations stakeholders to identify high-value opportunities and translate ambiguous problems into shippable software.\nDesign and operate APIs, services, workflows, and data pipelines that power lead management, attribution, automation, and other critical growth systems.\nOwn projects from prototype through production, balancing speed with reliability, security, observability, and maintainability.\nHelp shape the team’s technical direction and establish reusable patterns across applied AI and growth engineering.\nWhat You Bring\n4 or more years of software engineering experience building production backend or full-stack systems.\nStrong proficiency in Python or a similar backend language, with experience designing APIs, services, and data models.\nA track record of independently owning ambiguous projects from problem definition through launch and iteration.\nStrong product judgment and the ability to work effectively with non-technical users and stakeholders.\nExperience building reliable systems that integrate with external APIs, internal platforms, or enterprise software.\nCuriosity about applied AI and a willingness to learn quickly as models, tools, and product patterns evolve.\nA track record of coaching other engineers, raising the team’s technical bar, and leading changes to engineering practices, architecture, or ways of working.\nNice to Have\nExperience building production applications using LLMs, tool or function calling, AI agents, or multi-step AI workflows.\nExperience evaluating AI systems through test datasets, regression testing, production feedback, tracing, or behavioral analysis.\nFamiliarity with context engineering, retrieval, prompt design, model selection, permissions, guardrails, or human-in-the-loop workflows.\nExperience with AWS, serverless architectures, queues, scheduled workflows, or infrastructure as code.\nExperience with sales, B2B marketing, revenue, CRM, campaign, or other GTM-facing systems.\nEmployee Benefits\nVerkada is committed to fostering a workplace environment that prioritizes the holistic health and wellbeing of our employees and their families by offering comprehensive wellness perks, benefits, and resources.
