Based in Harlingen or Amsterdam, The Netherlands, this role will report directly to the Finance Manager. The Financial Controller will support the company in managing budgets and helping to ensure optimal financial performance and profitability in the short and long term. The successful candidate will join a team that values its people and provides work with purpose.\nWhat you will do\nCoordinate, consolidate, report on, review and challenge budgets and forecasts across CAPEX, OPEX, and G&A, and provide management with insight into budget status.\nManage AFE and project processes, including AFE review meetings, and support long-range planning, DSP reviews, project economics, and business case analysis.\nSupport operated joint ventures through reporting, budget updates, investment approvals, administration of JV agreements, cost-recovery optimization, and audits.\nPrepare Sector Agreement Fund reporting and commercial analyses, including profitability, cash flow, and Decommissioning Security Agreement calculations.\nSupport M&A reviews, sustainability projects and reporting, and provide financial input for reserve reporting.\nManage tax accounting, reconciliations, compliance, and filings for CIT, SPS, and cijns.\nManage the fixed asset register (FAR), asset retirement obligations (ARO), insurance submissions, and ESTMA/EITI reporting.\nPerform inventory reconciliations and forecasts.\nReview and support the continuous improvement of finance processes and compliance.\nSupport accounting staff with financial statements, accounts payable, month-end close, and other financial accounting matters.\nComplete special projects and other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager.\nWhat you will bring\nBachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics Business Administration or a related discipline\nMinimum 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting, controlling, or financial planning & analysis roles.\nExperience in the energy, oil & gas, natural resources, industrial, or project-based sectors is preferred.\nExperience supporting capital-intensive operations and multi-stakeholder business environments and knowledge of joint venture accounting and reporting is an asset.\nA Dutch RA and/or RC qualification, combined with experience gained at a leading international audit firm (Big Four), would be a distinct advantage.\nStrong experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, management reporting, business case evaluation, and project economics.\nExperience with CAPEX, OPEX, cash flow analysis, asset management, and financial controls.\nKnowledge of tax accounting, compliance reporting, audit support, and financial governance processes\nAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills.\nExperience with Power BI, Snowflake, or other business intelligence, reporting, and data analytics platforms is considered an asset.\nStrong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.\nAbility to translate complex financial information into actionable business recommendations.\nHigh degree of integrity, accountability, and professional judgement.\nStrong communication and relationship-building skills.\nContinuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency, compliance, and business value creation.\nCPA, CA, ACCA, CMA or equivalent professional accounting qualification preferred.\nValid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally, if required.\nWhat we offer\nA competitive salary (€6000-€8500 ) monthly plus 8% holiday allowance, 13th month and bonus that will adapt to the amount of experience that you will bring to Vermilion and furthermore attractive secondary conditions.
