power alone.\nPOSITION OVERVIEW:\nUnder the general direction of the Superintendent of System Operations, this position encompasses electrical engineering duties under a variety of focus areas. including transmission and distribution SCADA design, control and telemetry, integration of all SCADA aspects into substation planning, design, specifications, and commissioning.\nGENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:\nUnderstand one-lines, three-lines, schematic diagrams, wiring and connection diagrams for area of Engineering and Operations focus.\nProject management responsibilities, where applicable, including managing schedule requirements, reporting, and closing of projects.\nUnderstand the use of technical SCADA and communication equipment and oversight of the associated data and results. \nInteract with area field personnel, providing Engineering oversight and technical assistance as needed.\nUnderstanding of applicable standards and regulations per specific focus area of Electrical Engineering and Power System Operation.\nSelf-motivated with the ability to develop solutions per system needs.\n Ability to work collaboratively with other Engineers, SCADA Design personnel, operational personnel, other departments, and external utilities or generation personnel.\nUnderstanding basic electrical theory and the application to a Power Utility.\nFocus Areas: Scada Engineer\nAssists the Senior Scada Engineer and Supervisor System Operations with Substation Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) communication equipment including design, commissioning and trouble shooting.\nEnsure SCADA compliance with NERC, FERC, ISO, NMISA and other related standards.\nAssists with control and communication systems used to interconnect Distributed Generation sites including SCADA, AMI, OMS, and ADMS like systems.\nAssists maintaining SCADA in alignment with relay and line rating design criteria for accuracy in power system operation.\nWork with field planners, asset management engineers, Engineering Department, Line Department, outside resources and project managers to design and engineer SCADA and device numbering components of T&D capital projects supporting all regulatory requirements and project close out schedules. \n Maintenance and modification of SCADA drawings and communication equipment, telemetry and controls systems including design, commissioning, and troubleshooting for Distribution devices (Reclosers, Cell modems, Sectionalizers, Distribution Automation Schemes) as required for capital projects and maintenance work.\nEngineering SCADA design, drawings, and aligning specifications for service installations to large power customers, and interconnection of generators. \nCompilation of electrical system data, statistical reports, and specific data requests.\nSupport power system operators pertaining to various programs used to manage the power system including external interfaces, video display walls, and internal communication systems.\nAssist to commission and troubleshoot communication circuits over ICON, JMUX, SONET Networks, DNP 3.0, Serial, MV-90, and Ethernet.\nAssists in SCADA connectivity of primary and transformer rated metering.\nAssists with SCADA design and electronic mapping of underground distribution networks.\nREQUIRED OR PREFERRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:\nEngineer I-BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology desired. Related field experience in focus area will be considered.\nEngineer II- BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology desired. Five years of T&D Engineering required. Related field experience in focus area will be considered.\nEngineer III- BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology desired. Ten years of T&D Engineering required. Related field experience in focus area will be considered.\nExperience with PC based software including excel spreadsheets, AutoCAD, CYME & CAPE preferred. \nPosition requires identity verification and seven-year criminal background check with update at least every seven years pursuant to NERC standards. \n Maine Class “C” driver’s license required. \nPERSONAL QUALITIES:\nDemonstrated initiative in recognizing opportunities for improvement and efficiency\nProven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external parties; this includes excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills\nAble to deal with ambiguity, among multiple projects and competing priorities\nNOTES:\nPosition requires sitting, standing, driving, and walking on uneven terrain. \nPosition requires concentration and strong organizational skills \nPosition requires strong communication skills. \nUsual work hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
