We never lose sight of safety, quality, integrity and innovation.\nWe are committed to our dedicated people, who inspire us every day to deliver something more powerful than power alone.\nPOSITION OVERVIEW:\nUnder the general direction of Superintendent, System Operations, maintain direct oversight while ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the Transmission and Distribution Control Center, while maintaining a focus on power system integrity and economic operations. Interface with ISO-NE, Maine Local Control Center (Central Maine Power Co), New Brunswick Power - System Operations, and Northern Maine Independent System Administrator as regional organizations for coordination and control of transmission systems in Eastern and Northern Maine. Assist the SCADA Lead Engineer with incorporating new technology into the T&D Control Center (DG Interface, AMI, ALT Scheme’s).\nJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:\nControl, Monitor and Provide input to the Switching and Tagging write up process ensuring proper and safe operation of the T&D system under the jurisdiction of System Operations.\nMonitors and Directs overall T&D grid operations to assure safe and reliable performance.\nPlans and coordinates T&D system element outages with the Maine LCC, ISO-NE, NBPSO, NMISA, Interconnected Transmission Owners, Large Power Customers and Large Generators as well as all internal stakeholders. \nParticipates in planning for large storms and system disturbances in System Operations and as described in the company’s System Emergency Operations Plan.\nAssists in the development and review of current safety related policies & procedures associated with switching and tagging.\nEstablishes an operating understanding of the SCADA system and participates in the prioritization of future installations. Assist with developing and maintaining SCADA database displays and participates in the prioritization of future power system installations.\nSupports System Operators with generator Claim Capability Audits (CCA-test) for the generating units, as required by ISO-NE. \nMaintains a thorough understanding of internal and regional (ISO, Maine LCC, NBPSO, NMISA) operating procedures and assures internal compliance.\nEstablishes a thorough understanding and supports compliance of all NERC, FERC and MPUC standards and requirements. \nEstablishes and oversees the T&D System Operator shift schedules. \nRoutinely conducts reviews and updates of the System Operators guides soliciting participation from Engineering, Operations and System Operators. \nFacilitates and documents contingency planning for key T&D substations.\nProvides input to the T&D planning studies, reliability improvements and participates in the Capital Planning Process.\nImplements changes associated with Small and Large Generator Interconnection Process.\nBecomes familiar with reliability indices and assists with the analysis of power system interruptions and their associated impact.\nComplies with all environmental regulations and procedures including, but not limited to, spill reporting and response.\nDirects and supervises the work of the Bargaining Unit crews assigned to him/her by the Superintendent. \nQUALIFICATIONS:\nMinimum of 2 years of technical college or graduate of a school in Electrical Power or Engineering Technology; or equivalent training and experience is required.\nFive years’ experience in an operating or electrical engineering role in a power system environment is preferred.\nExperience in a computer-based environment with PC based software including Microsoft Excel and Word programs. Must possess the ability to learn various custom computer-based systems.\nPosition requires identity verification and seven-year criminal background check with update at least every seven years pursuant to NERC standards. \nMaine driver’s license required. \nMaintain a clean criminal record allowing NERC CIP access to Bulk Power System assets.\nAbility to obtain and maintain a United States Passport for operational meetings in New Brunswick. \nPERSONAL QUALITIES:\nDemonstrated initiative in recognizing opportunities for improvement and efficiency.\nProven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external parties; this includes excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.\nAble to deal with ambiguity, among multiple projects and competing priorities. \nNOTES:\nStanding, walking, and sitting intermittently throughout the day.\nAbility to differentiate between colors, primarily red and green.\nWorking with co-workers and the public.\nAbility to work effectively and safely under pressure and in stressful situations.\nAbility to communicate effectively and follow instructions.\nGood mathematical, communication and organizational skills.\nStrong computer application skills.\nUsual work hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
