We never lose sight of safety, quality, integrity and innovation.\nWe are committed to our dedicated people, who inspire us every day to deliver something more powerful than power alone.\nPOSITION OVERVIEW:\nProvides project management for the development and construction of transmission and distribution projects, both line and substation. This position will have a particular focus on management of new distributed generation projects.\nJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:\nProvides project management and leadership expertise in the development and construction of transmission and distribution projects. There will be significant management of service and construction contractors. \nLeads multi-disciplined teams comprised of internal and external members through project development, preparation, and execution phases including cost estimate preparation, developer agreements, business approvals, assurance of permits and ROW, material procurement, contract procurement, construction management, safety oversight, and commissioning.\nResponsible for all project governance including developing and maintaining project scope, budgets and forecasts, as well as approvals, controls, and closure. \nMaintains project accuracy in the SharePoint system, and uses project management software (Microsoft Project, etc.) to schedule, track and coordinate projects. \nWorking with the Projects Coordinator and Legal Department, develops and manages contracts and agreements for all phases of transmission and distribution projects, including conducting bid processes and contract negotiations. \nProvides business expertise, assists in preparing business cases, financial analysis, and supports management decision making. \nKeeps records to facilitate the proper close-out of projects with operational accuracy, and appropriate financial and records retention closure. \nEnsures safety performance and environmental compliance for projects. Ensures implementation of the Company Contractor Safety Program. \nOversees internal tagholders, and internal and external field construction managers. \nResponsible for project scheduling and coordination with Company Line Operations, PST and external telcom companies.\nManages communication, relationships, and stakeholder management with external parties including developers, local municipalities, property owners and businesses, and coordinates these efforts with internal resources. \nUnderstands and complies with all internal project development and procurement processes.\nThis position will have a special focus on managing projects driven by distributed generation initiatives, and will include project work on substations. Within this special role, key emphasis will be placed on scheduling, estimating, forecasting, collaborating, and coordinating with many parties. These other parties include the DG Program Manager, Asset Management, Engineering, PST, and developers. \nWorks in accordance with the documented environmental procedures, instructions, and specific responsibilities as defined in individual procedures and instructions. Reports problems or deviations associated with environmental issues and the Environmental Management System (EMS) to the Environmental Department. \nADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:\nPerforms other related duties as assigned including designated duties associated with storm restoration.\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:\nPosition requires strong business acumen, project management, leadership and general management skills. \nRequires skills in work planning, scheduling, forecasting, organizing and analysis.\nStrong interpersonal, organizational and team-building skills required. \nPosition requires excellent technology skills, including proficiency in project management/scheduling software, SharePoint, Excel, Project, Word, Powerpoint, SmartSheet, and internal Company planning systems. \nExcellent communication skills, both written and spoken required. Comfortable with public speaking in some settings such as town meetings, and informational forums. \nDemonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities, schedules, budgets, and meet deadlines.\nComfort in handling surveying, mapping and other spatial tools and considerations.\nExperience in managing contractors and contract documents preferred. \nPosition requires a minimum of five years of experience in project management, transmission/distribution line or substation operations, or related fields. \nSupervisory experience preferred. \nExperience managing capital projects strongly preferred.\nFormal education degree is preferred. \nPHYSICAL AND MENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:\nPosition requires both office and field work, and requires walking, standing, and driving. Construction projects require regular field visits to remote, outdoor job sites. Some evening meetings may be required. Some projects require overnight travel.\nPosition requires flexible schedule and frequent hours outside of the normal business hours. \nPosition requires excellent technical, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.\nPosition requires frequent interaction with contractors and Emera Maine employees.\nPosition requires current Maine Driver’s License.\nWORK HOURS:\nUsual work Monday through Friday, working between 40-50 hours is experienced.
