You'll work alongside some of Australia's best cloud, data and AI specialists, helping clients move from ambition to execution while shaping the next generation of data-driven and AI-enabled organisations.\nIf you're excited by modern data platforms, AI innovation and delivering meaningful outcomes for customers, we'd love to hear from you.\nWhat you'll be doing\nAs a Senior Data Engineer, you'll work closely with clients and delivery teams to design and deliver scalable data solutions that drive real business value.\nYou'll:\nBuild and optimise modern data platforms using Snowflake or Databricks\nDevelop batch and real-time data pipelines for analytics, reporting, AI and operational use cases\nCreate AI-powered data products using technologies such as Snowflake Cortex, semantic search and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)\nDesign scalable, secure and reliable data architectures across AWS and Azure\nImplement data quality, observability and governance frameworks\nWork directly with client stakeholders to shape requirements and solve complex business challenges\nApply AI-assisted engineering approaches using tools such as GitHub Copilot and emerging agentic workflows\nDrive performance, scalability and cost optimisation across cloud data environments\nContribute to technical design, estimation and delivery planning across consulting engagements\nWhat we're looking for\nWe're looking for engineers who enjoy building, solving and collaborating.\nYou'll bring:\n5+ years' experience in Data Engineering or closely related software engineering roles\nStrong hands-on experience with Snowflake in production environments\nExperience with Databricks and modern lakehouse architectures \nAdvanced SQL skills and strong Python or PySpark capability\nExperience building ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration workflows\nAWS and/or Azure cloud platform experience\nInfrastructure as Code experience using Terraform\nExperience with tools such as Airflow, dbt, Kafka or similar\nStrong understanding of data modelling, governance and security practices\nExperience working directly with customers, stakeholders and engineering teams\nExcellent communication and problem-solving skills\nBonus points if you have experience with\nSnowflake Cortex AI Functions\nCortex Search, Cortex Analyst or Cortex Agents\nRAG and semantic search solutions\nAI-powered data pipelines and data products\nDatabricks Mosaic AI and Vector Search\nData observability and lineage tooling\nFinOps and cloud cost optimisation\nCertifications we value\nWe're heavily invested in our partnerships with Snowflake and Databricks, so certifications are highly regarded, including:\nSnowflake SnowPro Core\nDatabricks Data Engineer Professional\nAWS Solutions Architect Associate\nAzure Data Engineer Associate\nHashiCorp Terraform Associate\ndbt Analytics Engineer\nLocation\nAustralia-based with full working rights required.\nHybrid working model with flexibility and client engagement as required.\nLife at Versent\nWe're a diverse team of motivated humans who think outside the box and strive to deliver what others might consider impossible.
