This is an individual-contributor role for an engineer who enjoys developing practical solutions, improving delivery pipelines, and resolving complex technical issues.\nWorking with software engineers, cloud architects, Information Security, and business stakeholders, this individual will implement DevSecOps practices, infrastructure as code, cloud automation, and reliable software delivery patterns. The ideal candidate combines strong Azure engineering skills, a security-focused mindset, and the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment.\nKey Duties and Responsibilities:\nBuild, configure, and support secure, scalable Azure cloud infrastructure for enterprise applications, data platforms, and AI-enabled solutions.\nBuild, enhance, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that improve software delivery speed, reliability, quality, and security.\nImplement security controls within the software delivery lifecycle, including automated security scanning, policy enforcement, secrets management, and compliance monitoring.\nDevelop and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or comparable technologies.\nWork with Information Security and architecture teams to implement identity, access, network security, vulnerability management, and cloud governance requirements.\nSupport Microsoft Foundry, Azure AI, and related Azure services used to develop and deploy AI-powered applications and agents.\nImplement and improve reusable automation, deployment guardrails, and platform engineering patterns.\nConfigure monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability to improve platform reliability and performance.\nTroubleshoot cloud infrastructure, deployment, integration, and security issues, and perform root-cause analysis.\nPartner with software engineering teams to improve application deployment approaches and adopt cloud-native engineering practices.\nContribute to the evaluation and implementation of Azure and DevSecOps technologies that improve platform capabilities and reduce operational risk.\nShare technical knowledge and contribute to DevSecOps and cloud engineering best practices across teams.\nKnowledge and Skills:\nStrong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services and cloud operations.\nPractical experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or comparable CI/CD technologies.\nHands-on experience with infrastructure as code, including Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or equivalent technologies.\nWorking knowledge of cloud security principles, including identity and access management, privileged access, secrets management, encryption, network security, and vulnerability remediation.\nExperience implementing automated security checks and controls within delivery pipelines.\nExperience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.\nStrong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar languages.\nExperience with monitoring, observability, incident resolution, and platform reliability practices.\nStrong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and continuous-improvement skills.\nAbility to communicate effectively and work collaboratively across engineering, security, architecture, and business teams.\nEducation and Experience:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.\n5+ years of relevant hands-on experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, site reliability engineering, or a related technical discipline.\nDemonstrated hands-on experience building and supporting production workloads in Microsoft Azure.\nExperience building, maintaining, or improving CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure.\nExperience implementing cloud security controls and DevSecOps practices.\nPreferred Experience:\nExperience with Microsoft Foundry, Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, or related AI platform technologies.\nExperience supporting AI, machine learning, or generative AI platforms.\nExperience working in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or another regulated or security-conscious environment.\nMicrosoft Azure certification such as Azure Administrator, Azure DevOps Engineer, Azure Security Engineer, or a comparable credential.\nExperience contributing to shared engineering standards, reusable automation, or platform capabilities used by multiple teams.\nAt Vertex, we embrace continuous learning and encourage employees to stay informed on advances in AI, technology, automation, and industry trends.
