This role is accountable for effectively managing overall relationships with key partners and ensuring the success of manufacturing operations.\nKey Duties and Responsibilities:\nProvides leadership in one or more technical areas\nResponsible for overall relationship with key suppliers of materials, technology and manufacturing resources\nCoordinates activities and leverages best practices across multiple projects and suppliers\nManages and designs key packaging activities including packaging design and specification, equipment and tooling design and qualification, labeling, material selection, testing, and sourcing\nCollaborates with multiple stakeholders including Pharmaceutical Sciences, Regulatory Affairs, Project Management, Supply Chain, Quality, and Marketing to meet project timelines and objectives\nLiaises with Regulatory Affairs and Quality to provide packaging documentation supporting process validation, product release and regulatory filings\nEvaluates process performance to lead continuous improvement activities and apply best practices for commercial products\nAssists in the creation of department goals\nKnowledge and Skills:\nExperience in one or multiple packaging disciplines including materials and closure systems, design of secondary and tertiary components, component compatibility, component qualification, equipment installation and qualification.\nExperience supporting packaging for pharmaceutical products from research through registration and launch\nAdvanced knowledge of cGMP’s and associated CMC regulatory considerations in a pharmaceutical environment\nEmerging knowledge across multiple technical areas\nStrong communication, collaboration and team building skills; ability to connect with all levels of the organization\nProven ability to manage multiple high-priority projects with high degree of effectiveness\nAbility to navigate a fast-paced, strong-matrix work environment\nAbility to travel domestic and international (approximately 30%)\nEducation and Experience:\nBachelor's Degree in Packaging, Chemical, Mechanical, Material Engineering, or a relevant discipline\nTypically requires 8 years of experience, or the equivalent combination of advanced education and experience\nAt Vertex, we embrace continuous learning and encourage employees to stay informed on advances in AI, technology, automation, and industry trends. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements.
