The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the physical design and/or thermal system design of new products. This engineer must be a practical hands-on type of engineer who can start with an abstract concept and see it through to product launch.\nResponsibilities:\nCreates/modifies mechanical Parts/Assemblies/drawings in CAD systems, such as Creo and/or Solid Edge.\nCreate and maintain Bill of Materials and unit configurator logic to select the correct BOM’s based on options selected by the customer. \nWorks with Marketing, Manufacturing, Service and Quality to understand their requirements to design a product that best meets all of their needs.\nAssist with prototype builds by providing technical support and providing guidance when issues arise. \nGather feedback from prototype builds and field trials and implement appropriate improvements to the product.\nUnderstands the products, suggest ideas and improvements.\nAssists with troubleshooting of escalated or re-occurring field issues.\nCoordinate performance testing in the lab.\nAnalyze test data, diagnose issues and determine changes to improve performance.\nThermal system modeling to determine performance and correct part selection.\nDetermine controls routines needed to make system operate optimally and to meet customer requirements. \nQualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.\nBasic working knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts, products and safety. \nBasic mechanical CAD tools experience- Solid Edge, Creo, Solid Works. \nExperience with Sheetmetal, piping and assemblies is a plus.\nData-entry systems familiarity - Oracle, Agile, etc. \nStrong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve (and prevent) a wide range of problems quickly and methodically. \nDetail oriented. \nExcellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills.\nAbility to multitask and operate in cross functional global development teams. \nTime Travel Needed:\nRegular local travel between Office/Lab/production facilities and minimal travel (\nThe successful candidate will embrace Vertiv’s Core Principals & Behaviors to help execute our Strategic Priorities.\nOUR CORE PRINCIPALS: Safety, Integrity, Respect, Teamwork, Diversity & Inclusion.\nOUR STRATEGIC PRIORITIES\nCustomer Focus\nOperational Excellence\nHigh-Performance Culture\nInnovation\nFinancial Strength\nOUR BEHAVIORS\nOwn It\nAct With Urgency\nFoster a Customer-First Mindset\nThink Big and Execute\nLead by Example\nDrive Continuous Improvement\nLearn and Seek Out Development\nVertiv is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
