The CNC Supervisor reports directly to Plant Manager and plays a critical role in driving continuous improvement across machining operations.\nThis is a high-visibility leadership role that directly impacts facility performance, on-time delivery, and operational excellence.\nThis role is supporting our 1st shift operations\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities\nTeam Leadership\nSupervise, coach, and develop a team of CNC machinists and operators on 1st shift, including performance management, training, scheduling, and career development.\nProduction Management\nPlan, prioritize, and coordinate daily machining operations to meet production schedules, delivery commitments, and quality standards; adjust staffing and resources as needed to respond to fluctuating demand.\nQuality Assurance\nEnsure all machined parts and components meet engineering specifications, GD&T requirements, and customer quality standards; lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances.\nSafety Compliance\nEnforce all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements; conduct safety audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations; champion a zero-incident safety culture.\nEquipment & Maintenance\nOversee CNC machine setup, operation, and preventive maintenance programs; coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize unplanned downtime and maximize equipment availability.\nProcess Improvement\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, 5S) to optimize cycle times, reduce scrap, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).\nWorkforce Planning\nManage shift staffing levels, overtime allocation, and cross-training plans to ensure operational flexibility and adequate coverage across all CNC cells.\nTechnical Support\nProvide hands-on technical guidance for CNC programming (G-code/M-code), tooling selection, fixturing, and machining processes across multi-axis CNC mills and lathes.\nCommunication & Reporting\nMaintain accurate production records, shift reports, and KPI dashboards; communicate daily status updates, escalations, and improvement plans to Plant Manager Tom Woods.\nCross-Functional Collaboration\nPartner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and other departments to resolve technical issues, support new product introductions (NPI), and implement engineering changes effectively.\nQualifications & Requirements\nEducation\nRequired: High school diploma or GED\nPreferred: Associate's degree or technical certification in CNC Machining, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field\nExperience\nCNC Experience\nMinimum 5+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment\nMinimum 2+ years of supervisory or team lead experience in a CNC or machining department\nTechnical Experience\nExperience with multi-axis CNC mills and lathes (3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis)\nProficiency in CNC programming (G-code/M-code) and CAM software\nExperience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T\nTechnical Skills\nMachining\nStrong knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, fixturing, and materials (steel, aluminum, stainless, exotic alloys)\nProficiency with precision measuring instruments (CMM, micrometers, calipers, height gauges)\nSystems & Methods\nFamiliarity with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling tools\nWorking knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies\nLeadership & Soft Skills\nLeadership\nProven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment\nStrong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities\nCommunication\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills\nAbility to manage multiple priorities
