This role collaborates closely with other engineering disciplines to develop complete and coordinated design packages, ensuring alignment across electrical power, control panels, relay logic, wiring, PLC hardware, I/O, and associated control devices. Systems supported include HVAC, access control, lighting, CCTV, and industrial automation applications.\nThis position requires the application of sound engineering judgment, leadership, and practical experience to independently take ownership of assigned projects. The role may also support software engineering and industrial networking activities, including PLC programming, SCADA/HMI development, and industrial communications.\nResponsibilities\nDevelop system layouts and controls designs based on construction documents and project specifications.\nDesign PLC architectures, control panel layouts, power distribution, network topology, and I/O assignments.\nDevelop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs and SCADA/HMI applications for monitoring, control, alarming, and data acquisition.\nPrepare engineering design submittals, as-built drawings, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) documentation.\nObtain equipment cut sheets and coordinate the submittal process, including assembly of O&M packages.\nEnsure all designs comply with contract drawings and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and constructability.\nSelect appropriate control devices and instrumentation in accordance with defined application and specification requirements.\nDevelop custom control and HMI graphics for integration into building automation systems and SCADA platforms.\nSupport system commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities in coordination with project teams.\nQualifications Education & Experience\nTwo- or four-year degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.\nExperience designing control systems for commercial HVAC and/or industrial automation applications.\nHands-on experience with PLC hardware selection, configuration, and programming using ladder logic, function block, and/or structured text.\nExperience developing and configuring SCADA/HMI systems, including alarms, trends, and operator interfaces.\nWorking knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, or similar.\nAbility to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and architectural construction documents.\nExperience using computer-aided design (CAD) software.\nSkills & Competencies\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.\nHigh attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.\nEffective written and verbal communication skills.\nTeam-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines.\nDemonstrated work ethic and commitment to company values and high standards of conduct.\nTechnical Skills\nMicrosoft Office\nMicrosoft Visio\nAutoCAD\nPLC programming platforms\nSCADA/HMI development platforms\nTravel\n60% Domestic travel is an essential requirement on this position.
