The Firmware Test Engineer will be embedded within the firmware development team and responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability and performance of Vertiv’s communication card products through comprehensive firmware testing-primarily black-box, with clear-box (white-box) testing as needed-and DVT (Design Verification Testing) validation. The role will work directly with hardware and product management teams to validate new features, conduct regression testing, support test automation and improve product quality.\nKey Responsibilities\nFirmware Validation & Testing\nDevelop and execute test plans, test cases and test scenarios for communication card products firmware releases.\nPerform functional, integration and acceptance testing, primarily from a black-box perspective and applying clear-box (white-box) techniques when diagnosing defects alongside developers.\nValidate new feature implementations, enhancements and bug fixes.\nVerify firmware functionality across supported hardware platforms and configurations.\nDVT (Design Verification Testing)\nExecute Design Verification Testing (DVT) for new hardware and firmware releases.\nValidate firmware interaction with hardware components, sensors, communication interfaces and peripherals.\nFamiliarity with test automation frameworks such as Pytest or Robot Framework\nPerform performance and reliability testing.\nIdentify, reproduce and document defects found during DVT cycles.\nSupport hardware bring-up and pre-production validation activities.\nDefect Management\nLog, track, reproduce and verify software defects.\nCollaborate with firmware developers to analyze root causes and validate fixes.\nParticipate in defect triage and release readiness reviews.\nEnsure timely closure of critical and high-priority issues.\nQuality & Continuous Improvement\nGenerate test reports, release summaries and quality metrics.\nReview product requirements and provide testability feedback.\nLeverage AI-assisted testing tools to improve productivity and test coverage.\nJob Specifications:\nBachelors Engineering degree in Electronics / Computers / IT\n2-4 Year’s relevant experience of software DVT Testing \nExperience in development with Python, primarily for test automation, is preferred\nExperience with at least one of the following communication protocols: SNMP, Modbus, BACnet, HTTPS, REST APIs, Redfish\nExperience with Linux operating systems is required\nTCP/IP or networking protocol experience is a plus\nExperience with a revision control system such as git is a plus\nHands on experience with any one of the defect tracking tools: Rally, JIRA, Gitlab and Bugzilla\nExperience in Testing process, Test Setup, Issue analysis, Test design is a plus\nExperience with containerization and virtualization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes, is a plus.\nExperience with API Testing is a plus\nWireshark
