Mechanical Engineer

Job Description: Mechanical Engineer Position Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer supports the development of mechanical content for the Product Architecture Playbook (PAP) and the evaluation and integration of mechanical solutions across IT infrastructure products and systems. Working within a cross-functional environment, this role contributes through CAD modeling, engineering analysis, design reviews, testing, technical documentation, and collaboration with product development teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and review 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings to evaluate mechanical interfaces, clearances, compatibility, and integration across IT infrastructure products
• Support the development and maintenance of mechanical requirements, standards, design guidance, and best practices within the Product Architecture Playbook (PAP)
• Participate in product architecture and design reviews to identify mechanical integration, interoperability, serviceability, and manufacturability risks
• Document review findings, technical recommendations, and lessons learned for potential inclusion in PAP
• Work with product development teams to understand integration challenges and translate relevant findings into reusable system-level guidance
• Perform mechanical evaluations, engineering analyses, prototype assessments, and testing to validate proposed requirements and design recommendations
• Collaborate with engineering and product management teams across business units to identify common interfaces, design practices, and opportunities for standardization
• Support the resolution of mechanical compatibility issues and recommend practical improvements to product and system designs
• Support communication of PAP updates by preparing clear technical guidance and working with product development teams to address questions
• Research relevant technologies, materials, manufacturing methods, and industry practices and assess their potential impact on mechanical architecture and PAP guidance
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to mechanical integration, compatibility studies, design reviews, and PAP content
• Manage assigned activities, communicate progress and technical risks, and contribute to multiple projects as priorities change

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 0-2 years of relevant experience, including internships, co-ops, academic projects, or research
• Working knowledge of 3D CAD tools, with the ability to create and review models and assemblies; Creo experience is preferred
• Understanding of mechanical design principles, engineering drawings, materials, and manufacturing processes
• Basic understanding of system-level integration, interoperability, serviceability, and manufacturability principles
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt as priorities change
• Experience with product development, mechanical integration, prototyping, testing, or design reviews is preferred
• Familiarity with engineering standards, design guidelines, or technical documentation is preferred
• Experience with IT infrastructure, data center equipment, racks, enclosures, or related electromechanical products is a plus
