The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the purchasing team, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, components, and services required to support production and business objectives. This role oversees buyer performance, drives supplier excellence, maintains inventory continuity, and ensures compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities Team Leadership

  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of buyers and purchasing specialists.
  • Set clear objectives and monitor team performance through defined KPIs.
  • Regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews.
  • Foster collaboration with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, and Finance.

Procurement Operations

  • Ensure uninterrupted material availability to support production and customer commitments.
  • Monitor purchase order placement, confirmations, supplier deliveries, and overdue orders.
  • Prioritize critical shortages and coordinate mitigation actions.
  • Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and procurement procedures.

Inventory & Cost Management

  • Support inventory optimization while maintaining targeted service levels.
  • Collaborate with Planning to balance inventory, demand, and supply.

Continuous Improvement

  • Standardize purchasing processes and drive best practices.
  • Lead root cause analyses for material shortages and supplier performance issues.
  • Support digitalization, ERP improvements, and automation initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate master data related to suppliers and purchased items.

Reporting

  • Track and report purchasing KPIs, including:
    • Supplier On-Time Delivery (OTD)
    • Material Availability
    • Purchase Order Confirmation Rate
    • Inventory Levels
    • Supplier Lead Time
    • Expedite Costs
    • Cost Savings
  • Prepare reports and present performance updates to management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a purchasing team is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Oracle, SAP, or equivalent).
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an advantage.

The anticipated salary range for this role Slovakia is between 25 200€ to 31 500€ gross per and reflects the range applicable in that jurisdiction. Certain roles may be eligible for variable compensation and benefits. Where applicable, a comprehensive overview of the full benefits package and any additional compensation will be provided during the recruitment process in accordance with local legal requirements. Compensation is determined based on objective, gender-neutral criteria, including skills, experience, and job responsibilities.
