This role combines technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and hands-on problem solving to improve product quality, manufacturability, and operational performance. The ideal candidate brings strong engineering fundamentals, a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to guide teams through complex technical challenges in an engineered-to-order environment.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nLead sustaining engineering activities, including prioritization of technical issues, design updates, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nProvide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and development support for a team of engineers.\nPartner with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations teams to resolve design-related production issues and drive timely execution.\nLead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions that improve product quality, manufacturability, and operational readiness.\nOversee engineering change activities, including bill of material updates, drawing revisions, and release accuracy.\nApply strong knowledge of manufacturing processes to support design for manufacturability improvements and reduce recurring issues.\nSupport new product introduction activities to help ensure smooth transition into production and long-term sustaining ownership.\nParticipate in the interview and selection process for engineering talent and help onboard new team members.\nPromote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the team.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline\n5+ years of experience in product design, sustaining engineering, manufacturing design support, or a related engineering function preferred\nStrong experience in 3D modeling and 2D drafting\nStrong understanding of manufacturing processes and experience working with cross-functional teams\nExperience leading technical problem solving and driving issues to resolution\nExperience with design for manufacturability, root cause analysis, and engineering change processes\nExperience working with bills of material, drawing revisions, and product lifecycle management systems\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nProficiency with Microsoft Office tools\nDemonstrated ability to coach, mentor, or guide other engineers through formal or informal technical leadership\nExperience with engineered-to-order products, sheet metal, copper design, or similarly complex
