Vertiv is an American company that supplies the power and cooling infrastructure data centres depend on, formed in 2016 when Emerson Electric sold its network power division to Platinum Equity. Its products cover uninterruptible power supplies, switchgear and busway, precision air and liquid cooling, racks and the monitoring software that runs them, sold to hyperscale operators, colocation providers and enterprises. Headquartered in Westerville, Ohio and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it has become one of the most direct beneficiaries of artificial intelligence build-out because dense computing requires liquid cooling it already makes.

We are looking for an experienced Technical Sales Manager to support the growth of our Power business, with a particular focus on electrical power distribution solutions for data centre and mission-critical applications.

This role sits at the intersection of technical expertise and commercial development. You will work alongside our Sales teams and customers to develop power solutions covering the electrical infrastructure from grid connection and medium-voltage distribution through to low-voltage systems and ultimately the critical load.

The portfolio includes medium-voltage and low-voltage switchgear, busbar systems, UPS, electrical protection and automation, and prefabricated power solutions.

You will act as a technical partner to customers, helping them understand how different technologies can be brought together to create reliable, resilient and scalable power infrastructure.

We are particularly interested in candidates who understand complex electrical power distribution and can combine that knowledge with a commercial, customer-focused approach. Experience within data centres would be highly relevant, although we also welcome candidates from industries such as utilities, power generation, oil & gas, chemicals and other environments with large-scale electrical distribution infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work alongside Sales teams to identify and develop opportunities across the electrical power distribution portfolio.
  • Engage directly with customers to understand their power requirements, technical challenges and future infrastructure needs.
  • Develop technically and commercially appropriate solutions using technologies including MV and LV switchgear, busbar, UPS, protection and automation systems and prefabricated power solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance throughout the sales process, from initial customer discussions through specification, proposal and solution development.
  • Review customer specifications, RFQs and tender requirements and translate these into appropriate technical solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, proposals and customer workshops.
  • Work closely with engineering, product and manufacturing teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically viable and aligned with Vertiv capabilities.
  • Act as a technical link between regional Sales teams and the Power Line of Business.
  • Maintain an understanding of developments across the power distribution market, including new technologies, competitor solutions and changing customer requirements.
  • Support opportunity and pipeline management through accurate CRM information.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Ideally 10+ years' experience within electrical power distribution, technical sales, sales engineering, application engineering or solution development.
  • Strong understanding of medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Experience with technologies such as switchgear, busbar/busway, UPS, electrical protection, power automation or related power distribution equipment.
  • Demonstrable experience developing or supporting complex electrical infrastructure solutions.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to translate technical requirements into customer-focused solutions.
  • Experience working with customers, consultants, contractors or engineering organisations.
  • Data centre or mission-critical infrastructure experience is highly desirable, although relevant industrial power experience is equally valuable.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel across the region as required.
