May also fabricate and modify parts applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Maintain safe, organized and clean work environment. Responsible for set up, inspection, first part buy, and other duties as assigned.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nIncluding and but not limited to:\nAbility to recognize and respond to issues that need corrected in a timely and efficient manner.\nAnalyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.\nMust be familiar with and comply to all safety policies and procedures\nSet up and operate variety of machine tools \nProperly operate hand or power tools as required\noperate precision measuring tools or equipment\nProvide timely accurate information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates\nRead and interpret blueprints \nRead and interpret customer specifications \nRead and interpret technical drawings\nMonitor production machinery/equipment operation to detect problems, and report to the lead or supervisor in the area.\nExamine products or work to verify conformance to specifications \nQuickly responds to all situations that could cause damage to equipment, product or workers without authorization. \nCalculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers. \nMachine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders. \nMeasure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers. \nSet up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations. \nAlign and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines. \nMonitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process. \nStudy sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances. \nSelect the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work. \nLay out, measure, and mark metal stock to display placement of cuts. \nPosition Requirements\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.\nThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nEducation and Experience:\nKnowledge of principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of product.\nMust possess knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, and preventative maintenance.\nMust demonstrate knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and their applications.\nMust have knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.\nKnowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production.\nMust be able to interpret blue prints and specifications.\n7 years conventional machining experience or certification from an accredited organization in the area of responsibility and 5 years’ experience.\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nMust possess strong decision-making skills.\nEnglish communication skills (both verbal and written) required to effectively communicate department needs and performance with all levels of the organization.\n Exercising good judgment and decision making - considering costs and benefits of potential actions.\nCoordination - Adjusting actions accordingly in relation to department and company needs.\nProblem Solving - able to identify and solve them.\nDetermining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.\nMust conduct inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality or performance.\nActive Listening skills - giving full attention to what others say, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as needed for clarification.\nMust be mechanically inclined. \nDetects malfunctions in machine operations such as worn or damaged cutting tools and takes action to correct them.\nCalculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics.\nAble to read precision instruments such as micrometers and calipers.\nThe ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.\nThe ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.\nKnowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.\nKnowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.\nKnowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.\nWorking knowledge of time management techniques\nKnowledge of the Aviation industry.\nInitiative -
