Duties include new part development, process improvement, Production troubleshooting, and customer liaison for quality issues and configuration change. You will be working cross functionally with Programmers, Production, and Contract Program Managers to ensure smooth resolution of discrepancies, conduct internal audits and drive cause and corrective action activities. Ensures processes and procedures are following regulations. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements. May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality. May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nKnow and follow general company and corporate policies and procedures.\nKnow, understand, and follow department policies and procedures.\nMeet personal goals and workplace expectations.\nLead cause and corrective action activities, follow-up on commitments and document results.\nLead or participate in Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) Events\nStandardize and optimize inspection plans.\nEstablish in-process inspection and operator certification program.\nTrack key quality data, including: MRB, Rejection Causes, Process\nDiscrepancies, Escapes, Rework.\nManage customer tags including communication with customer technical representatives to resolve discrepancies.\nReview and approve AS 9102 First Article Inspection Reports.\nReview manufacturing planning for compliance to customer / internal quality requirements.\nWrites a step by step machining process (planning/routing) based on engineering data, the bid, and the customer’s purchase order and requirements.\nAnalyzes all available inputs from multiple sources.\nAssures properly approved data is entered into the ERP system.\nMaintains an overview of new and established jobs for possible improvements.\nHelp train new manufacturing employees as needed.\nBe the technical contact for the customer products you are assigned to.\nPerform dispositions on internally generated non-conformance reports.\nConfers with management, production and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.\nProvides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.\nEstimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.\nAnalyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.\nConfers with planning staff concerning product tooling to ensure efficient production methods.\nConfers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.\nDesigns sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.\nInspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.\nDevelops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.\nConsults customer specification documents to develop operations routing for all manufactured products.\nReport to work on time, follow instructions from supervisor or management, interact well co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures.\nOther various duties as needed or as assigned.\nPosition Requirements\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nEducation and Experience:\nRequires Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent, combination of education and experience will be considered.\nAt least 5 years manufacturing quality engineering experience in the aerospace industry, combination of education/experience will be considered\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nComputer Skills\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual should possess basic computer proficiency and functional knowledge with applications and activities including (but not limited to):\nWorking knowledge of Machining practices/procedures and supporting processes. \nAbility to analyze and develop policies/procedures, to perform sound root cause analysis (including pareto, fishbone, 5Y) and to perform process mapping. \nProficient in technical interpretation of engineering documents, drawings, blueprints, models. \nAbility to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.\nAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. \nAbility to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. \nAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. \nDemonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize own work. \nDemonstrated ability to contribute effectively to a team effort. \nStrong interpersonal and customer-oriented skills.
