You will work alongside the developer who owns our data layer on data modelling, query optimisation and documentation.\nOur stack is PostgreSQL, Supabase, PostgREST and row-level security, with TypeScript, React, Vite, Vitest, Deno edge functions and GitHub Actions around it. Every change goes through a pull request with automated type, lint, format, build and test checks.\nDuration: 6 months; Start: flexible\nTasks\nGet familiar with our database structures and document how they are modelled.\n\nAnalyse table and column usage and prepare migrations where structures are no longer needed.\n\nImprove our data models: reduce duplicated values and work with references and views.\n\nOptimise data access so that more work happens in the database and less in the application.\n\nMeasure query performance and add indexes where they make a difference.\n\nReview our database access policies.\n\nRequirements\nYou are studying computer science, data engineering or something similar.\n\nComfortable in SQL: joins, aggregates, indexes, and reading a query plan.\n\nYou are happy to spend time reading existing code before changing it.\n\nPostgreSQL specifics (indexing strategies, EXPLAIN, constraints, triggers) and experience with Supabase or a similar API-over-Postgres layer are a plus.\n\nCoursework or a project in data modelling and normalisation.\n\nExperience with AI-assisted development tools.\n\nHumble, low ego, not afraid to get your hands dirty.\n\nGet things done mentality: prioritising results over process.\n\nFluent in English, German is a plus.\n\nBenefits\nScaling from 0 to 1: you shape how this company works, from the processes to the team around you.\n\nWork as a full team member of an interdisciplinary team of top performers that will both support and challenge your growth.\n\nLunch allowance, a subsidized sports membership and modern tech.\n\nA new office in Garching, right on top of our own production floor.\n\nVetaion is building a fully automated production facility for control cabinets in Munich.
