This role will work closely with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to integrate on-premise and cloud environments, supporting mission-critical applications and services.\nThe candidate must reside within the continental US.\nLocation: Remote (with occasional travel as required)\nResponsibilities:\nDesign, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.\nSupport WAN, LAN, and wireless networking solutions across hybrid on-premise and cloud environments.\nImplement and optimize network security controls, including firewall rules, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and segmentation strategies.\nManage F5 and other load balancing platforms to ensure high availability and application delivery.\nPerform network monitoring, traffic analysis, and root cause investigations using tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, and Wireshark.\nCollaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with federal standards, including NIST and Zero Trust principles.\nSupport network upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives, including cloud-based networking in Azure and hybrid environments.\nCreate and maintain detailed network diagrams, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.\nProvide Tier III escalation support, troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, and resolve incidents across enterprise environments.\nParticipate in change control processes, risk assessments, and disaster recovery planning.\nMentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to team members.\nRequirements:\nBachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or another engineering or technical discipline. Eight (8) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for the degree.\n5+ years of experience.\nHands-on experience as a Network Engineer supporting enterprise-scale environments.\nExpertise in configuring and managing Cisco and Juniper routers/switches.\nStrong experience with firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Cisco ASA) and VPN solutions.\nProficiency in load balancing technologies, including F5 LTM/GTM/DNS, with the ability to troubleshoot persistence, SSL offload, and traffic steering.\nKnowledge of WAN optimization, MPLS, QoS, and advanced routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).\nFamiliarity with cloud networking (Azure, AWS, or similar), hybrid connectivity, and software-defined networking.\nStrong understanding of network security principles, including Zero Trust, encryption, and segmentation.\nExperience with network monitoring and analysis tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, and Wireshark.\nExcellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.\nStrong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.\nAdditional Qualifications:\nRelevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIE, PCNSE, or F5-CTS.\nExperience supporting healthcare IT systems, EHR platforms, or large-scale federal data environments.\nFamiliarity with VA systems, policies, and compliance frameworks.\nExperience using AI-assisted tools (for example, GitHub Copilot) to write and maintain network automation scripts and configuration templates (for example, Python or Ansible), including reviewing and validating AI-generated configurations in a lab or test environment before deployment.\nExperience using AI-driven monitoring and AIOps capabilities to detect anomalies, correlate events, and speed root cause analysis across network monitoring data.\nExperience using AI tools to analyze logs, packet captures, and traffic data during troubleshooting, with the engineer confirming findings before acting on them.\nExperience using AI tools to draft and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.\nUnderstanding of the network and security requirements for hosting and accessing AI services, such as secure connectivity to cloud AI endpoints, data egress controls, and segmentation.\nFamiliarity with secure and responsible AI use in federal environments, including using only agency-approved AI tools, never entering network configurations, credentials,
