That said, even if you don’t meet 100% of the job requirements but feel you would be a good fit for the role, we still encourage you to apply!\nWHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR\nSenior Payroll Specialist\nThe Sr. Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting the Sr. Manager, Financial Operations in the full cycle payroll process, including local, state, and federal taxes, levies and garnishments, and maintenance of the payroll system as it pertains to payroll processing. This role also facilitates the reconciliation processes for the payroll function and ensures compliance with payroll laws.\nThis is a full-time, remote position.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO\nProcess multi-state bi-weekly and ad-hoc payroll for associates accurately and timely. This includes reviewing and/or calculating wages, overtime, deductions, and bonuses.\nGenerate finalized and correct payroll reporting after bi-weekly payroll processing and provide additional payroll reporting by request.\nEnsure an associate-centric approach in responding to requests and questions from associates and management regarding payroll issues and discrepancies.\nAct as the first point of contact for payroll emails and questions, resolving associate questions related to payroll general questions or concerns; escalate to the appropriate point of contact as necessary.\nDeliver a best-in-class payroll experience by providing clear, accurate, and empathetic support to associates.\nStay up-to-date with changes in labor laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure ongoing payroll compliance.\nEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws.\nCoordinate the reconciliation of payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies, working closely with the accounting department to ensure all reports are provided in a timely fashion.\nPartner with the benefits and leaves teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of associate leave pay and deductions.\nAssist with quarterly reporting and year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and distribution.\nManage the interface for Flexible Spending Accounts and 401(k) accounts, performing periodic audits to ensure accuracy of the data sent.\nMonitor and audit integration reports for third party payroll/tax vendor and 401k plan.\nResearch and recommend process improvements and payroll systems/updates.\nAssist in internal and external audits, including, but not limited to, the annual 401(k) audit and Internal Compliance audit (ICE).\nProvide back-up support for Canadian payroll and RRSP processing.\nSupport other Total Rewards and HR team members as needed, including back-up support for administration-related questions, special projects, and other duties as assigned.\nWHAT YOU BRING\nBachelor’s degree in related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of work experience and education.\n5+ years experience in Human Resources or Finance with at least 2 years in payroll administration.\nStrong understanding of payroll principles, practices, and regulations.\nProficiency in payroll software (e.g., WagePoint, Workday, ADP, Paychex) and MS Office Suite, specifically Excel.\nAbility to operate effectively in a team environment with both technical and non-technical team members, both within accounting and outside of accounting.\nPreferred Experience and Qualifications:\nKnowledge of multi-state and Canadian payroll.\nExperience collaborating with accounting teams to support internal and external audits, prepare accurate journal entries, and compile key financial data for reporting.\nWORKING CONDITIONS\nThis is a remote position, reliable internet is required.\nSitting at a desk, and working on a computer for long periods of time.\nOccasional travel may be needed; occasional on-site meetings will be expected.\nMust be able to work PST core business hours and additional hours as needed.\nWHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM VETSOURCE\nIn addition to an inclusive and welcoming culture, Vetsource also offers:\nCompetitive pay and benefits including medical, vision*, dental, and life insurance\n\nEmployee Assistance Program\n\nPet insurance* and Virtual vet care\n\nPTO, Holidays, Floating Holidays, and Volunteer Day\n\nRetirement Savings Plan (401k/ RRSP) with employer matching program\n\nPaid parental leave\n\nFlexible scheduling and remote work where possible\n\nThe opportunity to join one of our Associate Resource Groups, and fun company events!\n\nFor Canadian based associates these specific benefits are not included*\nOUR VALUES\nVetsource is proud to be part of Mars Science & Diagnostics, a division of Mars Petcare-a family-owned organization rooted in the belief that pets make the world a better place.
