The Costing Engineer in Material Costing Intelligence (MCI) is part of the Product Supply Enablement (PSE) function at VF Corporation. Based in Vietnam, this role is responsible for engineering product cost from a construction and manufacturing perspective, while supporting costing framework governance,costing data quality and vendor negotiations. The role partners closely with sourcing teams, productdevelopmentteams, suppliers, and factory costing counterparts to strengthenpre-costing, improve cost transparencyand predictabilityand deliver cost-saving initiatives. The successful candidate brings strong analytical capability, technical understanding ofapparelorfootwear/equipment product construction costdrivers, and the ability to influence decisionsto management level stakeholdersthrough clear, fact-based communication.
Key Result Areas
Product Cost Engineering
Engineer product cost estimates based on style construction, manufacturing process flow, labor contentandefficiency assumptions
Execute and continuously improve negotiation tools such as cost breakdown templatesandproductcost matrices, andstandard minute valuecalculators to support faster and more accurate cost assessment.
Supportin-factoryanalysis on material, labor, productivity, process, and otherproductcost-driver changes toinformmargin expectationsanddesign options
Costing Frameworks, Systems & Data Governance
Support the execution and governance ofproductminuterate cardsto buildpredictivecosting across suppliers and teams.
Partner with internaland externalstakeholders to improve costing data quality,product rate card adherence, and system integration acrossproduct development and costing relatedworkflows.
Contribute to the development ofgranular cost competitiveness KPIs for vendors, including framework documentation, KPI tracking, andintegration into the sourcing allocationprocess.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Project Support
Partner closely with sourcing, product development, and factory counterparts to align onproduct rate cardsandcostsavings opportunities.
Assist in preparing communication materials and management updates that translate technical costing analysis into clear business implications and recommended actions.
Support pilot projects and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen VF’s costing capabilities and “One VF” ways of working

What we will be looking for in you :
1-3years of experience in costing, industrial engineering, production, sourcing, procurement, operations, manufacturing, or a related field;
Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing/ Operations, or another quantitative / STEM-related field
Strongunderstanding of product construction, manufacturing processes, and cost drivers in apparel, footwear, orequipmentpreferred
Familiarity with workflow study, SMV / SAM concepts, cost breakdowns, or factory costing processes is an advantage
Strong Excel capability; proficiency in PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office tools required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights
Good stakeholder management and the confidence to work with suppliers and cross-functional teams
