This position provides an opportunity to work on a diverse range of complex, multi-disciplinary projects for major institutional, industrial, coastal, real estate, and energy clients, as well as local and state government agencies. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering impactful projects while helping shape the continued growth of our civil engineering practice.\nResponsibilities\nDevelop site/civil engineering plans, designs, and specifications for a variety of projects within the Industrial, Institutional, Real Estate, Coastal, and Energy markets\nSupport project managers and senior engineers in the execution of small, medium, and large-scale projects\nPrepare land development design and permitting documents, including site layouts, grading, drainage, utilities, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management plans\nPerform engineering calculations and analysis related to site development and infrastructure design\nPrepare and review engineering drawings, technical specifications, reports, and other project documentation\nCoordinate with surveyors, landscape architects, traffic engineers, environmental professionals, and other disciplines to develop integrated project solutions\nAttend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, boards, commissions, utility providers, and other stakeholders\nAssist with permitting activities and responses to regulatory comments\nSupport project task scope, budget, and schedule management\nAssist with construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and providing field support\nParticipate in site visits and construction observations as needed\nDevelop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, project teams, and regulatory agencies\nMentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff as experience and expertise develop\nAssist with proposals, project pursuits, and business development activities\nSkills and Attributes\nProficient in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management\nAbility to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment\nPrior experience supporting project management, client coordination, or permitting activities is a plus\nExperience with real estate, institutional, industrial, coastal, or energy projects is a plus\nExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills\nAbility to think critically, solve problems, and manage multiple priorities\nStrong computer skills, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office\nAbility to effectively communicate technical information to clients, team members, and regulatory agencies\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field\n3+ years of professional civil engineering and site/land development design experience\nEIT or PE preferred\nProficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D\nExperience preparing site/civil engineering plans and land development documentation\nUnderstanding of the Long Island marketplace and local permitting requirements is a plus\nThe full-time annual base salary range for this position is $92,000 to $125,000 if located in Long Island. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.\nAnnual base salary is one component of VHB’s Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
