The ideal candidate will have natural science field work experience and some exposure to and interest in environmental permitting efforts, environmental compliance monitoring, and wetland and waterway delineation.\nResponsibilities\nPerform and/or assist with natural resource surveys, including wetland delineations and functional assessments, wildlife habitat evaluations, and rare species surveys.\nAssist with the development of federal, state, and local environmental permit applications and supporting documentation.\nConduct environmental monitoring during project construction to ensure permit compliance and prepare inspection reports - could include pre-construction sweeps or daily monitoring for rare species.\nAssist with the preparation of natural resource studies, technical reports, and other project deliverables.\nAttend meetings with federal and state regulatory agencies and local municipalities to present projects.\nSkills and Attributes\nExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.\nSelf-motivated, team-oriented, and attentive to detail.\nAbility to independently manage multiple tasks while communicating professionally and collaboratively with internal teams, clients, and external partners\nAbility to work in physically challenging outdoor conditions and travel to project sites throughout Massachusetts and New England.\nFamiliarity with local, state, and federal wetlands and rare species permitting is preferred.\nFamiliarity with wetland delineations and compliance inspections is preferred.\nCoastal wetland experience and familiarity is a plus.\nProficiency with ArcGIS is a plus.\nAbility to prepare clear, well-organized technical reports and other written deliverables; cover letters are encouraged.\nQualifications\nB.S. or M.S. in environmental science, natural resources, wetland science, soil science, ecological sciences, or a related field.\n1-3+ years of professional experience in environmental consulting, natural resources, or related field work.\nThe full-time annual base salary range for this position, located in Massachusetts, is $62,000 to $80,000. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.\nAnnual base salary is one component of VHB’s Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
