This individual will provide support to the Geomatics team in the collection of field data and information related to the preparation of survey maps and CAD files.\nCheck out VHB’s Geomatics service page to learn more about this team and our capabilities!\nResponsibilities\nUnder direct supervision, performs various routine surveying tasks, including but not limited to: (e.g., operation, transport and setup of Total Stations, data collectors, GPS, terrestrial scanners and other surveying equipment), in connection with, topographic, boundary and construction layout surveys.\nAssists the field crew in collecting topographic data.\nPerforms land surveying using conventional survey methods.\nPerforms construction stakeout of proposed improvements (e.g., installation of stakes using sledgehammers and hand tools).\nAssist with office tasks including, but not limited to CAD drafting, data download, deed and map research, and filing.\nResponsible for inspecting, testing, adjusting, repairing, and overall evaluation of electronic and mechanical instruments. Ensure that inspecting standards and guidelines are followed.\nMaintains proper care of all equipment and vehicles.\nLoads, unloads, and operates equipment. Navigates and traverses’ off-site locations with various weather conditions and terrains to transport equipment.\nPerforms reconnaissance and recovery of boundary markers through use of hand tools and digging.\nPerforms manual labor using a variety of tools to prepare equipment for setup and usage (e.g., digs with shovel, cuts, and removes brush and undergrowth for line of sight).\nAssists in field search of evidence of boundary and easement lines.\nAssists in collecting supplemental survey data and structural elements.\nDocuments all phases of survey work through clear field notes and data collection.\nParticipates in professional and personal development aligned with career goals.\nPerforms all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and VHB policies and procedures.\nSkills and Attributes\nAbility to operate company vehicles.\nExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.\nTeam-oriented with capability to work independently.\nAbility to identify and seek needed information.\nAbility to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.\nSkills and knowledge must be commensurate with required experience and job level.\nQualifications\nMust have a high school diploma or GED.\n0-1 years of land surveying experience\nMust be detail oriented, willing to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements and willing to travel\nMust have a valid driver’s license \nMust be able to lift 50lbs\nWork Environment\nFrequent travel to locations with various weather conditions and terrains. Long hours of field work requiring ability to move (e.g., walk/hike) and lift equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds\nThe hourly pay range for this position, located in Orlando, FL is $19 to $23. The actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted hourly range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.\nAnnual base salary is one component of VHB’s Total Rewards package.
