This position provides an opportunity to work on complex multi-disciplined projects for major institutional, industrial, coastal and real estate clients along with local and state government and plays an important role in expanding and shaping the civil engineering team.\n2025 U.S. Best Managed Company, National Recognition\n2025 and 2024 LIBN, Real Estate Architecture & Engineering Awards for Top Firm, Lifetime Achievement, Top Engineer, Top Education & Healthcare Projects\n2024 ACEC, Engineering Excellence Awards, National Recognition\n2024 Institute of Transportation Engineers, National Achievement Award\n2024 ACEC Inaugural (DEI) Commitment Award\nResponsibilities\nDevelop site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of projects in the Industrial, Institutional, Real Estate, Coastal and Energy Market \nHelp build and lead a multi-dimensional team of civil engineering professionals\nProvide technical and career guidance as a mentor to staff Manage small, medium, and large project tasks\nAssist in the development project opportunities and manage proposal submissions\nSupport preparation of land development design and permitting documents\nAssist in project task scope, budget and schedule management \nPrepare and review drawings and specifications documenting the systems designed\nAttend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, boards, commissions, utility providers and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues \nSupervise design team activities during Construction Administration\nSkills and Attributes\nExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills \nProficient in site layout, grading, utility design erosion/sediment control, and stormwater management \nExperience with real estate projects, institutional and energy projects a plus\nAn understanding of other civil engineering or geomatics disciplines such as land survey, traffic engineering or highway design is a plus\nAbility to think critically and multitask \nStrong computer skills (CAD & MS Office)\nExhibits leadership skills\nExcels working in an integrated service team environment \nAttention to detail \nSelf-motivated \nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field \n5-8+ years of professional civil design engineering experience required\nPE licensure required\nUnderstanding of the Long Island marketplace a plus\nExperience with abilities of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil3D, and/or MicroStation\nDirect client and project management experience \nThe full-time annual base salary range for this position is $105,000 to $145,000 if located in Long Island. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.\nAnnual base salary is one component of VHB’s Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
