This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and growing Transportation Team, and to be a part of delivering CT's roadway and safety projects. This position provides an opportunity to lead complex transportation projects while playing an important role in expanding and shaping the group. We are looking for someone with a blend of project management skills, technical expertise, and innovative thinking. Experience working with CTDOT is required and experience with local agencies is a plus.\n2024 ENR New England Design Firm of the Year\nVHB Wins ACEC-CT Diversity, Equity Inclusion & Belonging Award \nResponsibilities\nServe as Senior Project Manager for CTDOT and Municipal clients\nDevelop and manage client relationships\nManage staff, and provide technical and professional development of staff\nAssist with strategy for expansion of transportation services throughout CT\nMonitor project financial performance\nAttend and lead meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss/navigate transportation design/permitting challenges\nDevelop and execute scope associated with transportation design projects\nParticipate in professional organizations that promote relationships with clients and teaming partners\nDevelop new project opportunities, and prepare and manage proposal submissions\nManaging large multi-disciplinary highway reconstruction projects, both traditional bid-build and alternate delivery (Design-Build, PPP, etc.)\nAssist with the production and delivering transportation projects through the construction administration phase\nPre-design project planning and financial management\nDesign of highways and roads including the development of geometric layout, grading, and drainage, working with utilities, and environmental permitting\nDevelopment of technical design and specification documents\nSkills and Attributes\nSelf-motivated, attention to detail, ability to multitask, ability to think critically\nExhibits strong leadership skills\nStrong and collaborative work ethic\nExcels working in a team environment\nSubstantial client management, technical and project management experience\nAbility to manage a multidisciplinary team of professionals\nExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills\nAdvanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in highway engineering\nAdvanced knowledge of state regulations governing transportation design\nSoftware: MicroStation Open Roads Designer, Civil3D a plus\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study required\nMaster's degree a plus and may substitute for 1 year of experience\n11-15 years of professional transportation engineering experience, with at least 5 years of experience working with CTDOT required\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license required; CT PE preferred\nSubstantial professional expertise with progressive highway design projects required\nThe full-time annual base salary range for this position, located in Connecticut, is $130,000 to $190,000. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.\nAnnual base salary is one component of VHB’s Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
