You will play a crucial role in enhancing our communities through sustainable and integrated project delivery. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will contribute to highway design, drainage design, traffic management plans, cost estimating, right-of-way, and layout plans. Our clients range from municipalities to state agencies and private partners, all invested in creating better places for people to live, work, recreate, and learn.\nResponsibilities\nServe as Task Manager/Senior Engineer for state and local clients.\nCoordinate roadway design with drainage, utilities, structures, traffic, and environmental disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.\nExecute scope associated with project delivery for transportation design projects for all stages from Concept Development to Final Design and Construction Administration phase.\nPrepare and review models, drawings, and specifications documenting the projects under design.\nA strong knowledge in the MassDOT design process is desired. \nManage work and develop and mentor junior staff, providing them with technical and professional guidance.\nCollaborate with other VHB professionals to deliver projects with an integrated thinking approach.\nMonitor project performance.\nAttend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss transportation design/permitting issues.\nAssist with strategy for expansion of transportation design services in Western Massachusetts.\nBe part of developing new project opportunities, preparing/managing proposal submissions, and tracking of key client work programs.\nParticipate in professional organizations that promote relationships with clients and teaming partners.\nSkills and Attributes\nSelf-motivated, attention to detail and ability to multitask.\nAbility to think critically.\nExhibits strong leadership skills.\nStrong computer skills (MS Office).\nStrong and collaborative work ethic and ability to work well in a team environment.\nSubstantial technical and project management experience.\nExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.\nKnowledge of roadway geometric design principles, including horizontal/vertical alignment, superelevation, and corridor development.\nThorough knowledge with MassDOT design standards.\nExperience AutoCAD Civil 3D.\nQualifications\nB.S. in Civil Engineering, transportation planning or similar discipline.\n8 years of professional transportation engineering experience.\nCurrent MA Professional Engineer (PE) license required.\nProven success in the transportation agencies and/or state & local government market sectors.\nThe full-time annual base salary range for this position is $110,000 to $135,000. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.\nAnnual base salary is one component of VHB’s Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
