(Major/Mega Projects)\nAs VHB’s growth continues, our Massachusetts Highway and Structures Team is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex and mega transportation projects across Massachusetts and New England.\nThis role will lead multidisciplinary teams of 10-30+ engineers, planners, and specialists delivering major infrastructure programs including highway corridor improvements, complex and signature bridges, rail modernization projects, and airport infrastructure using both traditional and alternative procurement.\nThe position offers the opportunity to guide major pursuits, collaborate directly with public agency clients, and help shape the growth of VHB’s transportation practice.\nYou will join a collaborative team of experienced professionals who are committed to supporting one another in the successful delivery of complex projects while fostering professional growth and leadership development.\nVHB’s transportation practice continues to expand across New England and beyond creating opportunities for experienced leaders, and this role also offers significant opportunity for advancement into broader future leadership responsibilities.\nResponsibilities\nLead high-visibility pursuits and the delivery of complex transportation infrastructure projects for public transportation agencies across Massachusetts and New England.\nLead multidisciplinary teams of engineers, planners, and specialists in the planning, analysis, design, and delivery of highway, bridge, rail, transit, and airport infrastructure projects.\nOversee projects from strategic positioning and proposal development through award, conceptual design, final design, and construction support.\nProvide leadership for project execution including scope development, technical approach, schedule, budget management, and quality performance.\nDirect and mentor technical staff in the preparation of engineering designs, plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and bid documents.\nServe as a primary technical liaison with clients, subconsultants, and contractors, representing VHB in project meetings and technical discussions.\nSupport construction coordination by providing design guidance, addressing constructability considerations, and assisting with technical issue resolution during construction.\nDevelop and maintain strong client relationships and support strategic pursuits and business development efforts across the region.\nContribute to the growth of the transportation practice through mentorship of staff, collaboration across disciplines, and participation in strategic planning and major pursuits.\nPromote VHB’s standards for technical excellence, project management, risk management, and quality delivery. \nSkills and Attributes\nSuperb technical and critical thinking skills and interdisciplinary understanding\nExceptional written and verbal communication skills. \nSelf-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented. \nFamiliarity with transportation design platforms such as Bentley OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Revit, and similar platforms.\nModel-Based Design development and coordination experience and strong understanding.\nExperience supporting integrated project delivery and schedule coordination tools is a plus.\nStrong understanding of local regulations, code, and design guides. \nMinimum Qualifications\n15+ years of civil or structural engineering experience\nBS in Civil Engineering (transportation or structural emphasis preferred) \nMaster’s degree a plus (counts towards years of experience) \nMassachusetts Professional Engineer licensure (licensure in other New England or other States is a strong plus only in addition to Massachusetts) \nMid-to-large scale traditional and design-build complex transportation project management and construction support experience required, including past experience in the role of design manager, or deputy design manager.\nExperience working with public transportation agencies such as MassDOT, MBTA, Massport, or similar regional agencies is preferred.\nThe full-time annual base salary range for this position is $170,000 to $230,000. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.\nAnnual base salary is one component of VHB’s Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
