Our teams work together across disciplines to solve complex challenges, foster new ideas, and create opportunities for employees to build rewarding careers while delivering sustainable transportation solutions.\nResponsibilities\nPrepare design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies associated with transit and rail traction power systems, including load flow analyses and computational analyses for power systems both AC and DC\nPrepare final design document preparation for traction power systems and elements, substations, negative return, power distribution, facility power, signal power, motor generators, and security systems on several types of transit and rail infrastructure projects \nWorks on plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements\nReview contractor design drawings and specifications to ensure system requirements are met\nSkills and Attributes\nAdvanced knowledge of railway substation and power distribution systems design\nDemonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writing\nTeam oriented with strong capability to work independently\nRobust technical and critical thinking skills\nDetail oriented and quality focused\nStrong project/task management skills\nAutoCAD proficiency\nQualifications\n5-8 years of experience in traction power/systems engineering required\nBS in Electrical Engineering or related field of study required, Master’s preferred\nExperience in NY electrified railway substation and power distribution systems design\nEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or NY PE license preferred\nThe full-time annual base salary range for this position, located in New York, NY, is $114,000 to $150,000. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.\nAnnual base salary is one component of VHB’s Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
