As a key member of our dynamic team of transportation planners and engineers, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of public, private, and institutional projects across various sectors, including real estate, municipal, state agencies, higher education, federal lands, and aviation.\nAt VHB, we’re committed to improving communities through sustainable, context-driven solutions and an integrated project delivery approach. You’ll collaborate with clients such as FDOT, local governments, and private developers to create vibrant spaces where people live, work, learn, and recreate.\nIf you’re passionate about making an impact through innovative transportation design and project delivery, we’d love to have you on our team!\nResponsibilities\nDesign and deliver roadway and highway transportation projects from planning and preliminary engineering through final design and construction support. \nDevelop roadway geometric designs, including horizontal and vertical alignments, profiles, cross sections, superelevation, grading, and corridor modeling.\nPrepare roadway plan sets in accordance with FDOT FDM and CADD standards, including plan/profile sheets, cross sections, roadway details, and signing/pavement marking plans.\nDevelop and maintain 3D roadway corridor models using OpenRoads Designer, supporting design visualization, quantity development, and construction documentation.\nPerform earthwork calculations, quantity takeoffs, and construction cost estimates using Quantity Manager and related tools.\nDevelop Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans, pavement designs, and design variations/exceptions to support roadway designs. \nCoordinate roadway design with drainage, utilities, structures, traffic, and environmental disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.\nPrepare and manage technical design documentation, reports, and project specifications for roadway design packages.\nSupport construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and addressing field design issues.\nSkills & Abilities\nExperience with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway modeling and plan production preferred; AutoCAD or MicroStation experience a plus.\nKnowledge of roadway geometric design principles, including horizontal/vertical alignment, superelevation, and corridor development.\nFamiliarity with FDOT design standards, FDM, and CADD production requirements preferred.\nAbility to develop or support 3D roadway models and digital terrain models.\nAbility to manage multiple roadway design tasks and project schedules simultaneously.\nStrong technical writing, communication, and teamwork skills.\nDemonstrated ability to learn new engineering software, manage multiple tasks, and follow project standards and procedure\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.\n5+ years of professional transportation engineering experience with a focus on roadway/highway design for state DOTs.\nPE license expected. \nThe full-time annual base salary range for this position, located in Florida, is $90,000 to $120,000. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.\nAnnual base salary is one component of VHB’s Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
