This is a unique opportunity to combine technical leadership with real-world impact, shipping features that directly shape the daily commute of millions.\nThis is a hybrid position with the expectation that you will be onsite in SF 2-3 days a week.\nAbout the Role:\nLead and grow a team of full-stack engineers building Remix's fixed route and on demand scheduling and optimization applications that help transit planners explore network concepts, model scenarios, and communicate their vision to stakeholders.\nOwn the technical direction of a product that blends complex geospatial data, rich React UIs, and algorithmic optimizations - balancing performance, usability, and reliability across the full stack.\nPartner closely with product managers, designers, and customers to deeply understand planner workflows, and translate those insights into engineering priorities and architectural decisions.\nMentor engineers at all levels, running thoughtful 1:1s, growing careers, and creating a culture where ownership, curiosity, and feedback are the norm.\nDrive improvements to engineering processes - from code review standards to CI/CD pipelines, making it easier for the team to ship high-quality features quickly and confidently.\nCollaborate with other engineering teams across Via to align on shared infrastructure, APIs, and cross-cutting concerns as the platform scales globally.\nAbout You:\nYou have a minimum of 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong full-stack foundation, ideally across TypeScript/React on the frontend and Rails, Python, or similar on the backend.\nYou've managed engineering teams and know how to build an environment where engineers do their best work through clear expectations, genuine mentorship, and room to grow.\nYou’ve worked on production applications, and have dealt with on-call, deployments and production maintenance.\nYou're comfortable making technical decisions in a complex, data-rich domain.\nYou understand databases, performance tradeoffs, and what it takes to keep a product reliable and fast as usage grows.\nYou lead with curiosity and empathy, whether you're pairing with an engineer on a tricky bug, presenting a roadmap to stakeholders, or talking directly with customers about their needs.\nYou care about what you build. You're motivated by work that has real-world impact, and you bring that energy to your team.\nCompensation and Benefits\nFinal salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills.
