We believe it can play a larger role in how software is built at Viaplay, powering operational use cases, real-time data products, platform integrations, and new capabilities across engineering teams.\nIn this role, you will combine strong technical expertise with product thinking. You will work closely with engineering leaders and development teams across the organization to understand their challenges, identify opportunities, and translate them into platform investments and technical capabilities.\nWhile you are expected to stay hands-on and contribute as an engineer, your primary responsibility is to drive the platform's strategy, roadmap, and adoption. Success in this role is measured not only by what the team builds, but by how effectively the platform creates value across the wider organization.\nWhat You Will Be Doing:\nOwn and drive the product vision and roadmap for Viaplay's data platform\n\nPartner with engineering leaders to understand challenges, identify opportunities, and uncover new platform use cases\n\nExpand the adoption of Databricks beyond traditional analytics and reporting workloads\n\nIdentify platform gaps and proactively propose solutions that create value for Viaplay\n\nContribute hands-on to architecture discussions and engineering initiatives when needed\n\nSupport the continued modernization of our data ecosystem and migration away from legacy platforms\n\nAct as a trusted advisor to engineering and business stakeholders on data platform strategy and architecture\n\nMentor and guide engineers within the Data Platform team\n\nWhat we’re looking for\nWe understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that’s why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you’ll have experience in the following:\nExtensive experience in Data Engineering, Data Platforms, or related technical disciplines\n\nExperience working with modern cloud data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar technologies\n\nStrong understanding of data architecture, data product and modern platform thinking\n\nExperience defining roadmaps, prioritizing investments, and driving product strategy for technical platforms\n\nAbility to engage with senior engineering stakeholders and influence decisions across organizational boundaries\n\nA proactive mindset with a demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and drive initiatives from idea to implementation\n\nExcellent communication skills and the ability to bridge the gap between engineering, data, and business domains\n\nIt’s a bonus if you have:\nExperience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and modern Lakehouse architectures\n\nExperience enabling operational and customer-facing use cases from data platforms\n\nExperience building ML platforms, feature stores, or AI-enabling data capabilities\n\nPrevious experience as a Technical Product Manager, Platform Product Manager, Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or similar role\n\nWhat we offer you \nWe’ve got you covered! 30 days of paid vacation every year, an attractive pension and insurance scheme, and generous parental leave pay lift. \n\nYour wellbeing matters.
