If this sounds like you, we may have the perfect opportunity for you!\nThe day-to-day\nYou will be working on the design and architecture of the company’s core network infrastructure to support our expanding global satellite fleet. You will also work on layer 1 through layer 3 network design, capacity planning and platform management as well as the design of routes for fiber-based networks including point to point, ring, and path diverse routing.\nWhat you'll need\nUsing the experience gained during your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering to design complex optical networks\nApplying your 5 years relevant work experience with multi-vendor network equipment to architect complex DWDM systems\nCreating written network implementation design plans (e.g. Method-of-Procedures MOPs)\nHaving hands-on experience with test equipment (BER Test, Optical Power Meter, OTDR, etc.) and troubleshooting system issues\nWorking to automate networks components and network management systems\nUsing your knowledge of coherent technology to build long-haul networks\nWhat will help you on the job\nExperience with use of fiber network design, planning and mapping software tools such as Nokia, Adtran, (Infinera, Adva) 3-GIS, ESRI ArcGIS and QGIS\nUnderstanding and debugging in any languages - Java, Python, Golang, or other modern programming languages using AI tools (i.e. Claude)\nExperience with continuous integration & delivery and DevOps methodologies\nOperational experience working with major carriers\nAn understanding of outside plant construction requirements with fiber experience preferred\nIP and Ethernet networking experience\nAt Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
