If this sounds like you, we may have the perfect opportunity for you!\nThis is a site-based role, employees work 3+ days (60%+) per week from a Viasat office or work location within a standard five-day workweek.\nThe day-to-day\nYou will be working on the design and architecture of the company’s core network infrastructure to support our expanding global satellite fleet. You will also work on layer 1 through layer 3 network design, capacity planning and platform management as well as the design of routes for fiber-based networks including point to point, ring, and path diverse routing.\nWhat you'll need\n* Using the experience gained during your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering to design complex optical networks\n* Applying your 5 years relevant work experience with multi-vendor network equipment to architect complex DWDM systems\n* Creating written network implementation design plans (e.g. Method-of-Procedures MOPs).\n* Having hands-on experience with test equipment ( BER Test, Optical Power Meter, OTDR, etc.) and troubleshooting system issues.* Working to automate networks components and network management systems.\n* Using your knowledge of cCoherent technology to build long-haul networks\nWhat will help you on the job\n* Experience with use of fiber network design, planning and mapping software tools such as Nokia, Adtran, (Infinera, Adva) 3-GIS, ESRI ArcGIS and QGIS\n* Coding and debugging in Java, Python, Golang, or other modern programming languages.\n* Experience with continuous integration & delivery and DevOps methodologies\n* Operational experience working with major carriers\n* An understanding of outside plant construction requirements with fiber experience preferred\n* IP and Ethernet networking experience\nSalary range\n$120,500.00 - $190,000.00 / annually.\nFor specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $149,500.00- $224,500.00/ annually\nAt Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
