The team’s mission is to enable secure innovative, cloud-focused solutions to Viasat customers, partners, engineers, and employees.\nThe day-to-day\nDesign and maintain reusable security templates and reference architectures for teams building in the cloud across Azure, AWS, and GCP\nProvide architecture guidance and security reviews to ensure solutions meet industry best practices and organizational standards\n\nDrive compliance to security frameworks, including CMMC Level 2 requirements within applicable cloud organizations\n\nPartner with engineering teams to embed security controls early in the development lifecycle\n\nWork alongside an innovative, cross-functional team to develop cloud security solutions, reusable templates, and standardized best practices\n\nWhat you'll need\nUS Citizenship required\n\n5+ years of practical security experience\n\n5+ years of engineering or software development experience\n\nBachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience\n\nStrong AWS and GCP architecting and development knowledge including hands-on experience designing and implementing secure cloud solutions\n\nSolid understanding of security fundamentals: encryption, identity and access management, network segmentation, and threat modeling\n\nAbility to quickly learn new technologies, take initiative, and be comfortable with technical details\n\nExperience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform\n\nWhat will help you on the job\nKnowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals\nCloud networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, routing, firewalls)\nExperience programming in Python or another object-oriented language\nExperience testing software and integrating security into automated pipelines\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines and knowledge of GitHub coding best- practices\nMid- to senior-level development experience\nStrong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey security risks and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences\nCandidate should have an interest in researching cutting edge technology and security research\nExperience with AWS security tooling: Security Hub, GuardDuty, Inspector\nFamiliarity with Responsible AI usage concepts and secure AI/ML deployment\nExperience with GCP security tooling: Security Command Center Enterprise, Google SecOps, VPC Service Control Perimeters\n\nSalary range\n$140,500.00 - $221,500.00 / annually.\nFor specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $174,000.00- $261,000.00/ annually\nAt Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
