As part of the Integration and Test organization, you will directly influence payload performance, program schedule, and on-orbit mission success.\nWe are seeking an Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) Engineer with a focus on Test Software Architecture and development for Payload Special Test Equipment (STE) and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE). In this role, you will design, develop, integrate, and sustain test systems used to verify advanced space-based communications units and payloads through development, qualification, and flight integration.\nYou will collaborate closely with systems, payload, RF, digital, software, and manufacturing teams to translate verification requirements into practical, scalable test solutions.\nDesign and develop STE and EGSE solutions used for payload integration and verification\nTranslate payload and subsystem requirements into test architectures, test procedures, and automation solutions\nSupport checkout and verification activities across unit, subsystem, and payload levels\nDevelop and maintain automated test capabilities that improve test efficiency and repeatability\nCollaborate with multi-functional teams to troubleshoot hardware and test system issues\nContribute to test readiness, integration planning, and verification execution\nDesign CI/CD pipelines\nThe day-to-day\nArchitecture & Requirements\nOwn development of STE and EGSE architectures for RF, digital, telemetry, timing, and power interfaces\nDerive test equipment requirements from payload verification needs\nParticipate in test planning and verification strategy development\nReview design documentation and provide feedback on testability and integration considerations\nTest Development & Integration\nDesign and integrate test hardware, harnessing, interface electronics, instrumentation, and support equipment\nDevelop automated test procedures and software tools\nIntegrate commercial test equipment with custom hardware and software solutions\nSupport unit, subsystem, and payload integration activities\nOperations & Execution\nComplete functional, performance, and environmental testing of payload hardware\nSupport test readiness reviews and test campaigns\nAnalyze test data and document test results\nMaintain test configurations, procedures, and supporting documentation\nAutomation & Continuous Improvement\nDevelop automation scripts and software tools using Python, LabVIEW, C#, or similar languages\nImprove test efficiency through automation and process enhancements\nSupport configuration management and lifecycle maintenance of STE and EGSE assets\nTroubleshooting & Analysis\nTroubleshoot hardware, software, instrumentation, and integration issues\nSupport root-cause investigations and corrective actions\nWork with design engineering teams to resolve test and integration anomalies\nWhat you'll need\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field\nTypically 4-8 years of experience developing, integrating, or supporting STE, EGSE, or automated test systems\nExperience working with electronic, communications, aerospace, defense, or satellite hardware\nUnderstanding of hardware integration and verification methodologies\nExperience using laboratory instrumentation and automated test equipment\nExperience with software scripting or automation development\nStrong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills\nU.S. citizenship required\nMust be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret Clearance\nWhat will help you on the job\nExperience supporting spacecraft, payload, communications, or RF systems\nExperience developing EGSE or payload checkout systems\nFamiliarity with telemetry, command and control, and data acquisition architectures\nExperience with Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, C#, or similar development environments\nFamiliarity with RF test equipment including:Vector Network Analyzers\nSpectrum Analyzers\nSignal Generators\nPower Meters\n\nExperience performing environmental or qualification testing\nExperience integrating custom hardware with commercial instrumentation\nKnowledge of configuration management and verification processes\nExperience working in fast-paced integration and test environments\nSalary range\n$120,500.00 - $190,000.00 / annually.\nFor specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $149,500.00- $224,500.00/ annually\nAt Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
