We’re looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.\nWhat you'll do\nWe are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an onsite Technical Product Manager, Edge Platform to join our dynamic team in Carlsbad, CA!\nYou will provide strategic direction and leadership for the planning and definition of Access Edge products - Edge platforms (servers, software, storage, WiFi). These platforms are located at the customer venues (aircraft, ships, homes, enterprises), for use on Viasat’s networks, delivering connectivity experiences to consumers. You will collaborate with all Viasat markets and with the broad set of engineering teams, on their needs and find the best solution to meet market needs including schedule, TCO, performance, and reliability.\nThe day-to-day\nDevelop and deliver objectives and key results, business cases, roadmaps, and reduction of technical debt working with Business PdMs, engineering teams, and other Tech PdMs across engineering.\nEnsure Access Edge engineering teams have transparency of requirements, and acceptance criteria.\nDrive product roadmaps and lifecycles to increase return on investment (technology reuse, platform convergence), and decrease TCO (quality, diagnostics, supportability, EOL, simpler business process).\nFocus on the customer experience, optimizing every detail from installation to reliable operation.\nUse your technical knowledge to make tradeoffs, estimates, feasibility assessments on your own, and review these with the engineering teams rather than depending on them for every ask. \nEnsure price/performance of the products match the needs of each business.\nIdentify and invest in Innovation POCs/efforts that can make a 10-100x difference. Challenge status quo.\nTrack and supervise technology advancements in the market, and industry standards.\nIdentify potential partnerships, help make Build vs Buy decisions.\nTravel up to 20%\nWhat you'll need\n10 years' proven experience in relevant areas and a track record of success.\n4 years' proven experience in technical product management role\nDemonstrated success managing products with a combination of Software and Hardware in Edge platforms at customer locations. These products should ideally have delivered B2C connectivity experiences to consumers (eg., passengers, crew).\nProven ability to lead global, cross-functional teams to successfully define and manage complex technology products.\nHands-on engineering experience building software for edge platforms at customer locations. You will use this knowledge and experience to make the decisions/tradeoffs/assessments in the day-to-day life of a Technical Product Manager.\nTechnical expertise in virtualized software (VM, Kubernetes, containers), IP networking, resource optimization in constrained hardware (memory, storage, performance).\nStrong attention to detail and the ability to evaluate product performance metrics effectively to inform strategic decisions and future improvements.\nExcellent communication and presentation abilities, with experience conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.\nWhat will help you on the job\nExperience implementing AI-driven solutions to enhance product functionality and user experience, leveraging data analytics to drive innovation and efficiency in platform operations. \nSalary range\n$141,500.00 - $224,000.00 / annually.\nFor specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $176,000.00- $264,000.00/ annually\nAt Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
