VIAVI employees are passionate about supporting customer success and we welcome people who bring their best every day to the company - to question, to collaborate and to push for solutions that will delight our customers.\nDuties & Responsibilities:\nThe Electronics Technician is responsible for the soldering, assembly, testing, and inspection of electronic devices and components to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards. This role involves performing in-process inspections, loading firmware, conducting functional testing of assembled units, cables, and components, and disassembling, modifying, reworking, and reassembling production and prototype assemblies. The Electronic Technician is expected to work independently, efficiently, and in accordance with safety and quality standards.\nKey Responsibilities:\nAssembly and Manufacturing\nAssemble electronic components into sub-assemblies or complete units based on manufacturing documentation (drawings, work instructions, travelers).\nFollow IPC-610 and IPC-620 quality standards during assembly and soldering.\nAssemble wiring harnesses, connectors, and mechanical parts as required.\nSolder precision electro-mechanical equipment, wiring harnesses, and PCB assemblies to IPC-A-610 Class 3 standards.\nTesting and Quality Control\nPerform functional testing on assembled devices, cables, and components to verify proper operation.\nConduct in-process inspections to ensure all assemblies meet or exceed engineering specifications.\nLoad firmware onto devices and perform basic troubleshooting of hardware and firmware issues.\nIdentify defects or issues in the assembly process and implement corrective actions as needed.\nRework and Modification\nDisassemble, modify, rework, and reassemble production or prototype assemblies and sub-assemblies according to product specifications.\nEnsure all rework processes meet quality standards, and document changes during rework procedures.\nCollaboration and Documentation\nWork with engineers and production teams to address issues, improve processes, and ensure that quality standards are met.\nComplete required production and quality-related documentation, maintain accurate records.\nCollaborate with other teams to support ongoing production and address any issues or changes in assembly procedures.\nHealth, Safety, and Organization\nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.\nAdhere to all safety standards, including Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) safety when handling sensitive components.\nFollow guidelines for cleanliness and workplace organization.\nPerformance Metrics\nExecute daily functions with key performance metrics in mind, including safety, quality, productivity, and schedule.\nContinuously improve assembly processes and contribute to achieving customer satisfaction.\nOther Responsibilities\nWork overtime as needed to meet production goals.\nParticipate in team meetings and provide feedback for process improvements.\nComplete additional tasks as directed by supervisors or managers\nPre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:\nEducation\nHigh school diploma or equivalent (required).\nAssociate degree in Electronics or related field (preferred).\nExperience\nMinimum of 3 years of experience in electronics assembly or a related field.\nExperience with assembly of electronic devices, wiring harnesses, and connectors.\nFamiliarity with IPC standards (610, 620) for electronic assemblies and wire harnesses.\nTechnical Skills\nProficient in reading and interpreting manufacturing drawings, work orders, and technical documentation.\nSkilled in manual soldering and assembly techniques, following IPC-610 standards.\nIf you have what it takes to push boundaries and seize opportunities, apply to join our team today.\nVIAVI Solutions is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer - minorities/females/veterans/persons with disabilities.\nJob Posting Pay Range:\n18to\n33Exceptional qualifications, experience and location may impact salary.
