In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of embedded firmware for our cutting-edge network test and measurement solutions. You will play a key role in bringing new products to market and enhancing existing ones, working within a dynamic and collaborative environment.\nJob Responsibilities\nAnalyzes, designs, programs, debugs and modifies software. \nTroubleshoots code for firmware (IC embedded code) applications. \nWork often involves analog and digital hardware and software operating systems. \nPosition requires knowledge and exposure to hardware design. Typically programs in machine language, assembly language and high-level languages (e.g., C, C++).\nDesign, develop, and debug robust and efficient firmware for embedded systems, primarily in C/C++.\nTranslate product requirements into detailed firmware specifications and architectural designs.\nImplement and optimize device drivers, real-time operating systems (RTOS) components, and communication protocols.\nConduct thorough unit, integration, and system-level testing of firmware, including writing automated test scripts.\nCollaborate closely with hardware engineers during board bring-up and debugging phases.\nParticipate in code reviews, ensuring high-quality, maintainable, and well-documented code.\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex firmware issues reported from internal and external sources.\nContribute to the continuous improvement of firmware development processes and tools.\nStay current with emerging technologies and best practices in embedded systems and firmware development.\nMentor junior engineers and share technical expertise within the team.\nJob Qualifications\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.\n7+ years of experience in embedded firmware development. \nProficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development. \nStrong experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS, VxWorks, or similar. \nDemonstrated experience with various communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, USB). \nSolid understanding of microcontroller/microprocessor architectures (e.g., ARM, MIPS). \nExperience with hardware-software co-design and debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and in-circuit emulators/debuggers. \nFamiliarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).\nExperience with network test and measurement equipment or similar high-performance embedded systems is highly desirable.\nExcellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.\nPre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:\nIf you have what it takes to push boundaries and seize opportunities, apply to join our team today.\nVIAVI Solutions is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer - minorities/females/veterans/persons with disabilities.\nJob Posting Pay Range:\n96,600to\n179,400Exceptional qualifications, experience and location may impact salary.
