Our culture is built on innovation, accountability and a commitment to excellence.\nWe are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to be the designated function holder for finance at our regulated payment services business in Malta. You will be responsible for the finance function of the licensed entity. This covers statutory and regulatory financial reporting, safeguarding and reconciliation controls, regulatory capital and liquidity, and tax. You will make sure the company meets its obligations under its licence and Maltese law. You will work in a fast-scaling, global payments business.\nThe role is subject to MFSA approval.\nResponsibilities\nRegulatory Compliance and Safeguarding\nOwn and maintain finance-related policies and procedures, including safeguarding, reconciliation, treasury and capital management.\nOversee daily reconciliations, review and sign off exceptions, and escalate breaches to the Board and MFSA where required.\nEnsure customer funds are safeguarded and segregated from the company's own funds, in line with the Financial Institutions Act (Cap. 376), MFSA Financial Institutions Rules and PSD2 requirements.\nMonitor own funds, minimum regulatory capital and capital adequacy, and report to the Board.\nDevelop reconciliation manuals and work with Engineering to turn them into automated processes.\nWork with Compliance, Risk and the MLRO on the identification of payment risks, and with Fraud and Transaction Monitoring to review payment patterns.\nFollow up on internal and external audit recommendations and track them to closure.\nContribute to the company's operational resilience and ICT/outsourcing oversight framework from a finance perspective.\nPayments Finance Oversight\nOversee settlement and reconciliation processes across all payment types, and review exception reports and dashboards.\nReview disrupted payments, partner refunds and chargebacks that have been escalated, and approve resolutions in line with procedure. Day-to-day handling sits with the operations team.\nManage liquidity, pre-funding and treasury requirements with payment partners.\nAct as an early point of contact for payment partners (such as banks, acquirers and PSPs) on financial and regulatory matters.\nSupport the onboarding of new payment partners with financial and regulatory input.\nWork with Product and Engineering to build compliance into new payment products and flows.\nFinancial Management and Reporting\nPrepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts and IFRS statutory financial statements.\nManage the annual audit and the relationship with external auditors, including any safeguarding or regulatory audit work.\nPrepare and submit regulatory returns to the MFSA and other authorities, and keep the supporting documentation.\nPrepare budgets, forecasts and cash-flow projections.\nPrepare regular financial reports for senior management and the Board of Directors.\nEnsure filings with the Malta Business Registry are made on time.\nTax and Corporate Obligations\nEnsure compliance with Maltese and international tax obligations, including VAT, corporate tax and withholding tax, and liaise with the Commissioner for Revenue (CFR) and external tax advisers.\nOversee outsourced services such as payroll, legal advisers and other service providers, and approve related payments.\nWork with other departments and the Group to streamline financial processes and support Group reporting.\nUndertake other duties reasonably required by the Company.\nRequirements\nBachelor's degree in Finance, Accountancy, Business or a related field.\nA recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, ICAEW, CPA Malta or equivalent) \nAt least 5 years of experience in finance within payments, fintech, e-money or banking, including regulatory reporting.\nWorking knowledge of IFRS, safeguarding and reconciliation requirements, and regulatory capital for payment or e-money institutions.\nAble to meet the MFSA's fit and proper requirements and to be approved for this function.
