This position is responsible for evaluating skill levels, developing structured training programs, and delivering hands-on instruction in pipe and plate welding processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal quality expectations.\nThis is a salary non-exempt position, meaning the incumbent is paid on a salaried basis and is eligible for overtime compensation in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws. The role requires regular travel to support training initiatives across designated locations.\nKey Responsibilities\nEvaluate employee welding skills to identify strengths, gaps, and development opportunities.\nProvide hands-on training in pipe and plate welding processes, including FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, and other arc welding methods.\nDevelop and deliver training materials (written, visual, and instructional), including guides, presentations, and videos.\nConduct welder testing and certification activities, ensuring compliance with AWS, ASME, and other applicable standards.\nInterview and assess internal and external welder candidates for skill level, technical knowledge, and certification readiness.\nCreate and implement individualized training plans to advance employee skill progression.\nTrack and monitor trainee progress, providing consistent feedback, coaching, and performance guidance.\nIdentify high-potential employees for advanced welding roles and support career development initiatives.\nMaintain accurate and up-to-date records of certifications, qualifications, and training progress.\nStay current on welding technologies, processes, and industry advancements, integrating updates into training programs.\nSupport training initiatives related to robotic welding systems; programming experience preferred.\nReinforce compliance with company safety standards, as well as FEM/5S principles and workplace expectations.\nPreferred Experience and Skills\nExtensive experience in pipe welding and stainless-steel welding applications.\nAdvanced knowledge of welding processes, including FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, and related techniques.\nDemonstrated experience in welder qualification testing and certification processes.\nWorking knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (ASTM, AWS, ASME, AWWA).\nAbility to interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical schematics.\nStrong interpersonal and coaching skills with the ability to mentor and influence others positively.\nProficiency in shop math and precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers).\nComputer competency, including Microsoft Office applications.\nExperience with robotic welding systems and programming is preferred.\nQualifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required; additional welding certifications or training credentials preferred.\nProven experience in manufacturing, steel fabrication, or a related industrial environment.\nStrong verbal, written, and visual communication skills.\nSelf-directed with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently while supporting multiple locations.\nWorking Conditions\nCombination of shop floor and training environment exposure.\nFrequent travel (approximately 50%) between Justin, Houston, and Kansas City locations.\nAbility to stand, walk, and perform hands-on training activities for extended periods.\nExposure to typical welding and fabrication environments, including heat, noise, and fumes, with appropriate PPE requirements.\nVictaulic is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EOE/M/F/Vets/Disabled) employer and welcomes all qualified applicants.
